We don't know how much ticket prices are in the hand of the artist and how much is in the hands of the producers, agents, etc. Of course when we think of Madonna . . . we think she must control everything, and yes she does require a certain cut of it herself, which sets the standard for the ticket price . . . but again if a theater can get $250 for an artist of course they are going to . . . and from a producer's point of view . . . why not? And to paraphrase something Liz once said "Madonna is the motorboat . . . and the rest of us are only The Go-Go's on waterskies." As for the lack of new music from Liz, it doesn't concern me much. The only thing that bothers me is that I'll never again get to hear Exile in Guyville for the first time. james ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2001 09:29:37 -0400 (EDT) From: steever Subject: well. >>Thank dog Liz has torpedoed her own career. We won't be asked to shell out ridiculous prices for her at least.<< i paid $90 to see liz. at lilith fair...i know, i know, it's a festival, but she was the only one worth seeing (though i did get introduced to the dixies...). a total rip-off, but i didn't want to miss liz since she is never in town...even if it only was 30 minutes long :P Steve. ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #160 ************************************
