Yayyyy i got a jen trynin shirt a couple months ago for $5, and it is SOOOOOO cute! and they sent me a signed cockamamie record flat! how cool is that??? :) all this talk of lizlessness....my best friend was asking me the other night "who do you like better?" and putting two of my favorite bands/artists together that would be IMPOSSIBLE to choose between, he just likes watching me squirm. he was like 'sleater-kinney or tori amos'. anyways...so at the time we were listening to sunburn by blake babies, and he was like "Liz or juliana". i thought about it for a minute...and responded "ask me this three years ago and i would have said liz..." because her back catalogue is pretty small, she isn't one of those artists (for me anyways) who always has something that can suit whichever mood i'm in. Take Kristin Hersh for example...between her and the muses there are soooooo many records that there is always one that i'm hooked on. it's that way w/ juliana too. it isn't that way with liz. i'm not blaming her for my lack of interest these days or anything--whatever, it's her life, she can do what she wants and i don't much care (unless she goes britney...). i'm just saying lizlessness flat-out sucks!!! ;) But y'all knew that already. I guess it could be worse (i.e., will i EVER hear a new kate bush record?) i'm sure when she "comes back" i'll be all lizzydizzy again, like last time. That's a GRAND spent on Madonna. That is really depressing, though not surprising out of her at all. Are you just NOW realizing she's only in it for the money? ; ) Thank dog Liz has torpedoed her own career. We won't be asked to shell out ridiculous prices for her at least. I think it's awfully funny by comparison to look at David Bowie. Here's a bona fide legend -- one of the most important rock artists ever. He did three nights in New York last year, his first public concerts in forever. Fans were rabid for the show, coming from as far away as Japan, Australia, South America and Europe for the show. And the tickets were $40. Fuck Madonna, Elton and all the other "artists" who screw their fans like that. Sorry for the rant, but I just can't believe what's happened in the past 5 years.
