No, I didn't die some torrid and untimely death at the hands of others or myself. Yes, I left Warner Bros. Yes, I got married. No, we haven't had any children. Yes, I'm living rather suburbanly. No, I'm not spiritually dead. Yes, I took a leave of absence from music and went back to school to study, at first, math and economics, and then writing. Prose. No, I haven't stopped writing music. Yes, I'm playing guitar and singing in a good-friend-of-mine's band called Loveless. Yes, I'm happy, sad, mad, hopeful, trusting, devious, cautious, frustrated, melancholy and laughing at inappropriate moments. Yes, like you, I'm a lot of things. And yes, I'm working on something new I'm ever so hoping you'll appreciate in some way. Second, Thank you for coming here, for wondering what's up with me. Like you, I hope for caring. Love and Kisses, forever yours, Jen Maybe we'll see a new Jen Trynin record before we get one from Liz. I hope that when Jen does put out whatever she's working on that everyone will check it out. She's a tremendous musician and songwriter that deserves a lot more support and recognition than she's received in the past. _Exile in Guyville_ may be my favorite record of all-time, but Jen's _Gun Shy Trigger Happy_ is a very close second -- and that's saying a lot. Ok, I've been away from the support digest for two years now, but since all this time has passed and no new album has appeared, I was left to ask, why? What evil force could be keeping her new material off the shelf? So, I know that I am surely rehashing old news for the group, but could someone please give me the scoop on when her new album is going to be coming out? You all must understand, Liz is simply amazing, and I do miss her.... I tried figuring out "Blood Keeper" once, note by note, and it's not easy. I spent a half-hour just on the opening riff! There are several guitars that drown each other out; it seems like a lost cause. "Bouncers' Conversation" might be slightly easier. I made some progress, but I don't have patience when it comes to figuring out songs by ear--I prefer a visual aid. Plus, Buddy's guitar obscures Liz's (imagine that). "Freak of Nature" might be really easy; I've just never tried it. It sounds like regular chords to me, with a key change at the end. Congratulations on your new acquisition, Kimberly Ann. Are you a beginner guitarist? If so, there are some simple Liz songs you might like to learn. If you're more accomplished, I know some songs for which no one has offered tabs yet--let me know what else you might want to learn. Additionally, I have discovered the existence of a "Perfect World" tab, something a lot of folks have been clamoring for. I checked it out, and it seems 100%. Go to www.guitaretab.com (that's right: 'guitare' with an 'e') and search for "phair" and you should find it. Spectacular. Always remember that Capitol Records big shot Ray Lew has a truckload of the most accurate Liz tabs ever at his site: http://www-scf.usc.edu/~rlew/liz_phair/guitar.htm Over & out, Steve _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #157 ************************************
