Well, the article did say as of now there are no tour plans, which makes sense. The album's release is still at least several months away and no date has been set for it yet. Usually most tours are planned to coincide with an album's release. Once it's finished and they have an idea when the album will be out, then they'll likely start organizing a tour. I really can't see Liz not touring for the new album. First of all, she enjoys performing live now; and even in the old "stage fright" days, she still did at least a minimal amount of touring in support of each album, sometimes several months after the record's release. Also, being signed to a major now, she's probably going to be under more pressure to play the game and move units. A tour would keep her visible to the public, and Liz doesn't get much exposure from other outlets like MTV or radio play. Touring, word-of-mouth from fans, and reviews and articles are likely the only things that will gain her some exposure. Another thing is that being signed to a major now, she probably got a much bigger advance than she's ever had in the past and also a much bigger recording budget this time. For the album to recoup all those costs, it's going to have to sell more copies than her past efforts before she sees any money from it. Liz has a large and loyal enough following that she likely at least breaks even on the road, and more probable than not, actually makes money touring. The majority of the shows she did in support of _whitechocolatespaceegg_ sold out, and in many markets, she probably could have filled even bigger venues. She might not tour quite as much as she did for _whitechocolatespaceegg_, but I bet we'll see something happen. Besides, how am I ever going to meet up with cool people like Katie Brown and the rest of the "International Club" again if Liz doesn't tour? Liz shows may be great events on their own, but they also bring people together. :) Cheers, Jase NP: Elastica, _The Menace_ ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #145 ************************************
