Her life is totally different in many, many ways and it's just not something I see us hearing a lot of. But that's the joy and pain of music. People are your favorites for a long time and then they change or you do and sometimes you move on. I was actually surprised at how much I loved WCSE, since I count EIG as my fave album of all time. It's just the nature of creativity. paige- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2001 18:02:47 From: "steve kisko" Subject: Re: Elle article Lil Russian Girl: <> Tee hee. I agree, but you kind of have to put the piece in perspective -- it was for Elle magazine, after all. And I guess that's what you do when you have more time & money than you know what to do with. I'm holding back from being 100% negative (for instance, I've decided Liz probably moved to CA to escape the seasonal affective disorder she suffers from, and I don't blame her), but I've also kind of reached a point where I can accept her for who she is now as well as appreciate what she did in the past and probably won't do again in the future. I've been thinking she's become a semi-irrelevant pop star, lazy about delivering her product, unenergetic in terms of maintaining/improving her technical skill as a musician, and more interested in trading on her notoriety than doing anything newly important as an artist. Of course, I'd love for her to prove me wrong with this next record, but I'm definitely not awaiting it with the same kind of giddy anxiousness I did with the last one. We'll see how "uncharacteristically cloying" the songs from Julie Johnson are. If nothing else, I could probably just listen to EIG and Whip-smart for the rest of my life without tiring. Man, all this opining brought on by a stupid little article in a fashion magazine. I hope this isn't the only post to the digest today.
