Paige: > The "yeah" would be the "yeah" that Liz sings during > "6'1" on some offbeat. You know, there's another "yeah" on 6'1" that a lot of people don't ever hear. It's after the first three chords, either Brad or Casey says "yeah..." I have a really good ear, but I was surprised when I mentioned this to a few Liz fans a while ago and nobody had ever heard it or could hear it when they played the track & listened for it. Strange. > I was not disappointed by whitechocolatespaceegg. > It's not Exile in Guyville, > but it couldn't have been considering where Liz was > in life. There seem to be 2 schools of thought regarding whitechocolatespaceegg. Those who, when referring to Liz's "growth," talk about her life changes (marriage, kid, cashing in her $400,000 check from Atlantic), and those of us who talk about the musicality of the record (which is what I think Jessica was doing), namely the fact that you can hardly hear her guitar on most tracks and the verse/chorus song structure (which, although some will undoubtedly argue to the contrary, *probably* didn't have anything to do with her relative post-partum happiness). When I think about my own reaction to whitechocolatespaceegg, I don't think "oh, I must be missing all the songs about sex & single life." I don't care where Liz is in her life, because she's always going to have something interesting to say about something (see: "Bouncer's Conversation"). I just wish she WOULD fight with her producer more, leave the fuck-ups in, & force her guitar to the front of the mix, as she said she wanted to do after hearing whitechocolatespaceegg. I wonder who the producer is for the new record. There must not be one. Which would be great! - -E Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! I guess I wasn't so much referring to her change of place in life, just in the way she presented the cd. Just little things, like for example, the lyrics and thank-yous in the inlay...it was just so different, like I said, it just wasnt "Liz" to me. I like most of the stuff she did on it though. I also realize she's on a new label so that probably has something to do with it. Just thought i'd clarify a little. I had the volume up pretty loud and I heard this voice in the background. I thought it was someone in my house, but when I turned up the volume, the voice got louder, so it was definitely in the song. It sounds like a recording of some male voice, I can't really make out anything he's saying because the piano drowns out a lot of it. But you can hear it there from about 26 seconds to a minute into the song. I just thought it was really weird and interesting and I figured someone else would know what this recording is or what the guy is saying (most likely Ken, he just seems to know everything!). And if some people haven't heard it, there's a new thing for you to check out and look into. Any thoughts/ideas/answers anyone? Happy listening! ~Melinda _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V4 #50 ***********************************
