Chapters, the Canadian version of B&N.com may have them, as may HMV Canada, although I don't know the address for them, if some one could provide them, that would be great. Or you can get your firends who live in Canada to get them. Or you can get your firends who live in Canada to get them. HMV's web address is [http://www.hmv.com]. Chapters' site is at [http://www.chapters.ca]. I just visited both sites, and they had all three Weeping Tile discs available. I've really been enjoying Harmer's _You Were Here_, but haven't bought any of the Weeping Tile albums yet. I'm going to see if I can find at least one of them this weekend, though. Just out of curiosity, since I know there are at least a few Pavement fans on the list, what does everyone who has heard it think of Stephen Malkmus' solo disc? I had been somewhat disappointed with the last Pavement album, _Terror Twilight_ -- I do like it more now than when it was first released, but still not all of it has clicked with me. Malkmus' disc seems like a return to form; it's probably the most compulsively listenable disc he's done since _Crooked Rain_ (not to slight _Wowee Zowee_, which I now love but took a while to warm up to). Kristin Hersh fans, take note: Her new album, _Sunny Border Blue_, is going to be released on March 6. I've already heard most of the songs and I think it's going to be a stunner. _Hips and Makers_ will likely remain my personal favorite, but I think this one won't be far behind it. Thanks a bunch! >Jessica Hey, I'm a REALLY big Pink Floyd fan!! I hate when people associate Pink Floyd as a "wanker" band...that is literally the MOST ridiculous thing I have EVER heard in my life. I don't think many artists can compare to Pink Floyd's song writing ability or creativity. The only 2 I have seen who can compare are David Bowie and the Beatles. Maybe Radiohead..but we'll see. But they are about as much a wanker band as Tori Amos!!! Anyway, my favorite Pink Floyd album is either "Animals" or "Dark side of the Moon". I absolutely worship "MEDDLE" too...and of course I love THE WALL - and ya, I like "Wish You Were Here" too... GOD! It's hard...but if it came down to it, probably "Animals". Glad there are some pink floyders out there!!!! laters, Dan. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 17:41:27 +0100 From: Moe Subject: Pink Floyd Jessica: >I was just wondering if there were any Pink Floyd fans out there, and if so >I'm just curious to see what you consider your favorite album. Thanks a bunch! I like Pink Floyd a lot. My favorite album? Tough question. I love Dark side of the moon, Meedle, Relics and Wish you were here. My favorite song is probably Interstellar Overdrive. :) Moe ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 11:42:28 EST From: AimeeRoadie@aol.com Subject: liz experience Hi there- It's my birthday so I'll pose a thread (instead of cry) if I want to... :) I'm listening to Liz and wondering what your top listening to Liz experience is. I know I risk throwing the list into NC-17ville, but I'm WAYYYY old enough. You might say twice as old enough. Anyway, mine is listening to Stratford-on-Guy on a plane. Not very exciting, I understand, but it was a nice serene feeling. Also FINALLY getting the "yeah" eight years after the first time I heard the album - which took literally thousands of listens. paige- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 17:50:04 +0100 From: Moe Subject: DUH I forgot The Wall in my list of fave Pink Floyd albums. It's on several of the new tour bootlegs. I like Floyd too. My brother's the real junkie though. My favorite is The Wall, just cause it's such an ingrained thing with me. Reminds me of my wild impetuous youth. paige- - --- Not had enough talk about your fave singer/songwriter? Thanks a bunch! >Jessica I used to be in to pink floyd some years back... they are a band that I think never gets a fair accessment, the fans, of course, inflate their importance/genious and the rest of the populace writes them off as a drug band. I think 25 years ago, if you weren't getting into punk, floyd was the place to be... They were really trying to create a new sound--make complex and intelectual music. I think you can hear their influence in bands like Raido Head, whose OK Computer sounded a lot like a floyd album to me... The band's sound changed a lot between albums... partially due to the changing line up... but I think there are 5 classic albums to round out your floyd collection: Piper at the Gates of Dawn Meddle Wish you were here Dark Side of the Moon The Wall As far as the most recent stuff...I couldn't tell you much about it....I think they've been releasing a bunch of live perforamces from throughout their carreer... Of the last studio albums, I enjoyed The Final Cut, quite a bit... it is another rock opera in the vain of the Wall. While many big fans might call me on this, I think The Division Bell (the most recent studio effort) is better overall than A Momentary Lapse Of Reason the album right before it. As far as my favorite album.... it is probably wish you were here.... but it really depends on the mood I'm in! mike ------------------------------ Date: 15 Feb 2001 14:56:27 CST From: FIRE STAR Subject: eating cherries since my last posting had to do with eating cherries out of iggy pops bum, you can tell that I do not take myself too seriously; it is true that I adore liz, she is unbelievable and I have it on good authority that she has a raging libido, which can only add to her charm, however I also find that her music has suffered, maybe it is the recording business, the pressure to peddle music, to make it big, as it were; a balance must be struck between the artist and consumer so as to provide noteworthy music; it should no longer be the recording industry dictating musical tastes or catering to the lowest denominator just to make a quick buck; if it sounds like I am pissed off then you are getting my message; I am fed up with all these arguments about napster; some see the Nap as the savior while others think it is Beelzebubs bitch on crystal; in the end the bottom line is cash! we will all still have to pony up the dough to the recording industry in one way or another! so it came as no surprise that BMG made Napster its bitch, what else could we expect; it is reality sucking out the money in our collective wallets; we could expect no less; and if liz sold out, whether it is the quality of her music or at a concert, the bottom line is money; maybe I should go back to the vanilla posts and talk about seemingly important subjects as which Vitamin B, C or F has better artistic merit; one a dance act, the other pop and the last heavy metal, who cares? just like the beatles, who cares about these old farts, would we still have music if they had not existed? the answer is a resounding yes, and maybe even better music, so why do we all line up to give these fat cats more cash? because we care? because we like to promote tea & crooked teeth? because we all want to contribute to paul's cherry popping vices? and who cares, in the end it is all spoo-juice in the mouth, salty and lumpy, no more and no less!
