Basically it's a Best Of compilation of the 'This American Life' show from NPR. As i scanned thru the liner notes, i noticed that 'Shatter' is used as transitional music in, not one, but two of the pieces on the cd. Granted they play, at most, about 30-45 seconds from the song, but it's still cool as shit. Actually, the double cd is actually very good stuff. In addition to Liz, they also feature music from Yo La Tengo, Jonathan Richman and a whole 'hidden track' by They Might Be Giants. If you're a fan of NPR, i HIGHLY recommend this cd. There are some very moving stories on here with some kick ass music! macho hugs & kisses, patrick ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2001 05:02:55 -0500 From: owner-support-system@smoe.org (by way of Jason Long ) Subject: Bounced message From: "Wendy Alkins" Subject: Patti Rothberg Info I'm usually a lurker but I did want to spread the news about Patti Rothberg's long anticipated 2nd cd, Candleabra Cadabra. Not sure when it came out but it's great. You can get it or more info on Patti at cropduster.com. I had been trying to get info on her for like 5 yrs when someone on this list mentioned Patti. Thanks to that person I got my copy & am loving it . That's about it.....Can't wait for new Liz. I was psyched that she had so many comments on the VH1 best 100 albums show. My prob with that show was that they had certain artists represented too many times and left out people like the Kinks & I think Eric Clapton, too. Maybe I just missed the segment but It would be hard to argue that either of these artists didn't deserve being on the list. Anyway, check out the new Patti... It rocks! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2001 12:24:19 -0500 (EST) From: steve the dyke-tyke Subject: cat's ass I never heard of any catfight between courtney and liz either yeah, i bet half of those "catfights" are created by the media...it seems like you can't be a "woman in rock" these days without being pitted against another female rocker. that's obnoxious. blah. steve. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2001 22:04:36 From: Kenneth Lee Subject: picture milestone Hi all, I have just added picture number 700 to my Liz site. It's from the Japanese magazine "Rockin' On", September 1998. The photo is taken by Katrin Thomas, and it's from the same shoot for the "whitechocolatespaceegg" album cover/publicity photos. If anyone wants to take a shot at translating Japanese, I've scanned the three-page article from the same magazine mentioned above.
