And without reading on I reply: No, it's not from girlysounds. It's a song she's written since WCSE came out. The copy you have might be from the Lounge Ax show in Chicago in -- what? -- April 1999? That's the only recorded copy I know of, but I could be wrong. But then I read Jase answer: > > "Conversation Overheard Between Two Bouncers" was the new song that Liz > debuted at the Lounge Ax show in March 1999; a studio version may appear on > the new record under the title "Bouncers' Conversation." It's not a Girly > Sound sound, but those of us who were at the show more or less agreed that > it had that kind of vibe. I should have known the experts would answer!! = ) Jase also said: (By the way, can I just say how weird it is to > find something from a show you recorded turn up on Napster? Not that it's a > bad thing; it's just interesting to realize that more people are going to > hear it than I had thought when I taped it.) That is truly, truly weird. But it's better than finding it for sale on Ebay. And then Emil writes: > Sandra, your "Jesus fucking Christ" post made my day. And you completely rock for saying that. BIG P.S. -- my book soup friend has NOT written back to me. i think she is traveling. grrr. i'm going to call her. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 01:52:03 EST From: AWeiss4338@aol.com Subject: Weston Remember the group Weston who sort of made a name for themselves with their tribute to Liz, the song Liz Phair. Well their label is apparently trying to push this song again, I've heard it a few times on this show my local modern rock station, WHTG (Eatontown NJ, who I suspect is one of the few commercial stations to play Liz at all) called The Underground, which is where I heard about this originally. This show mostly is indy rock and pop. Cool show, impressive for playing this song, and a lot of other cool songs besides. So if this song takes off, you'll be hearing it. It's a great song. Excuse the rambling, I just got back from Boston, where I saw Aimee Mann twice in two days, and I'm wired and tired, and winding down the very long day. Has anyone noticed what seems to be another gang reference in "Shane" from Whipsmart? "You gotta let 'em dick you around/but don't let 'em make you do what you can't live with." and "Shane, I said you gotta watch your ass/you gotta have fear in your heart." That sounds like it would have to do with gangs and gang violence. And also on Whipsmart, in "Dogs of LA" there is "The Dogs of LA, they hold the place like a mafia as they rub me around again." They came out with a CD in 2000 called "Parachutes;" I picked it up and I think they're great...They also have a video out for the song "Yellow." Anyway, I had wanted to see them at Irving Plaza in NYC on Feb. 16 but the show sold out in like an hour! If anyone here knows anyone with extra tix, please e-mail me privately. I am prepared to compensate someone with spare tix quite handsomely.
