ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS IN THE WORLD WORKS NIGHTS AT BOOK SOUP. jesus fucking christ. i'm emailing her right now. sandra ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 05:38:22 -0500 From: Jason Long Subject: Jase's new e-mail address Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I have a new e-mail address. This account will still be active for another couple of weeks, but if you need to contact me, please write to me at , as I will be checking this account less frequently now. To everyone who's written to me about trades or burning CDs, I'll try to get back to you soon. My internet connection has been somewhat sporadic this week as my ethernet card only wants to work when it feels like it (or, in actuality, when it doesn't seem to be conflicting with other hardware). Hopefully the problem will be fixed within the next day or two, as I'm going to be purchasing a USB network adapter and setting things up that way, which will hopefully be less problematic. I know this probably doesn't help alleviate the wait for new Hole material much, but I thought I'd mention this as it may be of interest. Two or three weeks ago, I asked on the list whether or not anyone knew if Rebecca Gates had been doing anything lately. Catherine Lewis wrote a reply to the list which mentioned the _Shanti Project Collection 2_ compilation, which features two new songs by Rebecca, and how to go about getting it. I just got the CD in the mail yesterday, and as it turns out, there are also two recordings by Melissa Auf Der Maur on it. I haven't had a chance to *really* listen to them yet, but they seemed interesting enough during the initial spin as I was getting ready to go out last night. There are also two Kristin Hersh acoustic recordings on the disc (although both can be found on the single for "A Cleaner Light") and songs by Edith Frost and a couple of other artists I can't remember at the moment. If you want to order a copy of the disc, you can get it from the label's Web site, . A big thank you to Catherine for mentioning the disc in the first place -- anything new by Rebecca Gates is especially welcome at this point. Now hopefully her solo disc will be out soon as well (thanks on the news on that too!). Cheers, Jase ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 07:07:46 -0500 From: Jason Long Subject: Stephen Malkmus Okay, I know I'm posting too much this morning, but just one more thing (for now, anyway)... Has anyone picked up the single for Stephen Malkmus' "Discretion Grove" yet? It was released on Tuesday, but I haven't been able to find a copy of it yet. I'm really looking forward to the album next month, and I'm curious to hear how the single is. Also, in case anyone's interested, there's an mp3 of one of the album's tracks up at the Matador site right now . Happy downloading! While we're waiting for this new album to come out (which will be 2015?), why not release Girlysounds onto cd? We know Liz has been wanting to do it for quite some time. Errrg...life is such a drag down in Florida, nothing exciting going on. I love MSCL and thought that the episode with Juliana Hatfield was one of the best. It is the Christmas episode, and it's a very touching one. Her song in the show is "Make It Home." For any Juliana fans, you need to hear this song! It really is great. Just had to share! J. >> i feel the exact same way- i bought the "My so called life" soundtrack for that song, it is really good and touching. i really loved the episode too. i was so bummed when they canceled that show. it was really the only show that captured teen life the way it really is. mike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 13:27:54 EST From: KiTkAtE907@aol.com Subject: juvenilia hey guys-- I've been looking for juvenilia EVERYWHERE and I really can't find it, does any know if it's out of print?
