Yeah I guess my definition was simple, but I didn't want to do a long complcated rant on it. There have been bands/artists who have done just this or near to it. No offence to the Dar Williams fans on this list, but does anyone who has her album The Green World think that like me, it's a little overproduced, and over everything, just because it really sounded like she wanted nothing but money and fame, so she made this big, slick pop folk album that sounded like the worst of Shawn Colven, Suzanne Vega, tracy Chapman ect. That's what I think of it, and I can't stand it. She was doing just fine as she was, and was having sucess, on what I thought were her terms, but then she got new managment, and they got her to thinking, and I wished they hadn't. It's alright to grow and change, but not like this. Her fans love it, but this too close to what I think of as a 'sell out' for me. You can make good art, make money, without selling your soul. Bonnie Raitt did that, and she's making music now that is great, so did Aimee Mann on a much smaller scale. Or in Dar's case, wanting your soul to be the muse of the world. Liz probably didn't get as much exposure as she'd hoped - but maybe someone will ask her to work again for another show... NBC Sweeps Away 'The Weber Show' January 5, 2001 2:01 am EST HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - NBC has made the latest salvo in the burgeoning Thursday night war this midseason, pulling the rookie comedy "The Weber Show" (formerly known as "Cursed") off the air during February sweeps, as expected. That means the second half-hour of CBS' "Survivor: The Australian Outback" will face off against tougher NBC competition than originally planned, although a NBC spokeswoman declined to spell out the network's exact plans. There has been speculation that NBC will insert episodes of one of its more established series such as "Friends" or "Frasier." Although "Weber" has done a less than stellar job holding onto its "Friends" lead-in, NBC has picked up the series for the entire season. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Jan 2001 16:18:57 From: "jeF kearns" Subject: ot: good deal on md recorder Hi.
