Rebecca Gates Jase asked: > anyone know if Rebecca Gates has been recording? Actually, yes I do know, and yes, she has! Two songs ("Move" and "The Colonel's Circle") are available on the "Shanti Project Collection 2", which also features solo songs by Kristin Hersh, Melissa Auf der Maur, Paula Frazer, Edith Frost, Mimi Parker, and Julie Doiron. It's called the 'shanti project collection' because proceeds from the sale of the CD benefits the Shanti Project of San Francisco, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, improving the well-being, and promoting the independence primarily of people living with HIV and AIDs. [www.shanti.org] The disc was released by the Badman Recording Company, who did Mark Kozalek's solo album (the Red House Painters guy) as well as a John Denver tribute and some other stuff. It's available directly from Badman [www.badmanrecordingco.com -- tell Dylan that you heard about it from Catherine!] or from places like CDNow and Amazon (although you might have to wait a month or so once you order from them, so it'd be faster to order from Badman directly even though their postage is a little higher). And here's a cute little teaser -- Badman'll be releasing Rebecca Gates's debut solo release in early 2001. (I could probably find out more information if you wanted.) Information from the liner notes of 'shanti project collection 2': "Move" & "The Colonel's Circle" writeen by Rebecca Gates. Published by dewey klager music/BMI. Recorded by John McEntire February 2000, at SOMA Electronic Recording Studios, Chicago, IL. Rebecca Gates - guitar, vocals Noel Kupersmith - bass John McEntire - synthesizer. Hope this helps, Catherine. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2001 04:01:23 -0500 (EST) From: "Dennis J. Also - when you post the track listing, please let me know if that is the "official" track listing (as juliana would have intended them to appear) or if it is just the order you burned them from napster. I was dying for God's Foot when I first heard of it waaaaaaaaaaay the fuck back when - and then "Bed" came out, and I liked it mind you, but i was still really hyped for this now legendary "God's Foot". So if anyone can let me know the track listing I'd really appreciate it - so I can get to downloading... laters..
