["Daaaaan Theman" ] liz singing new tv show theme song ["over pavema" Subject: Bettie Serveert Hey guys. I went to see Bettie Serveert play at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC tonight and in the middle of "Tomboy" (which turned into more or less a mini jam session) Carol van Dijk sang the first few lines of "Divorce Song." She credited Liz after the song was over. Thought it was neat. Bettie Serveert used to be on Matador, maybe they sold Amsterdam pot to Liz :> - --- "Your manuscript is both good and original, but the part that is good is not original and the part that is original is not good." -Samuel Johnson "A'nta baka?" -Asuka d. www4.ncsu.edu/~djkim2 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2000 04:38:36 -0400 From: Jason Long Subject: Bounced message From: "Jason Saldanha" Subject: Wilco I highly recommend this band. Random Notes: Jeff Tweedy is the lead singer; he used to be the lead in Uncle Tupelo. He is married to Sue Miller, co-founder of Lounge Ax in Chicago (r.i.p.). Their best disc is Summerteeth, however Being There, a two disc set, doesn't fall behind by much. They will be in concert at the Riviera in Chicago on Nov. 22. They put on a great show. Their website is www.wilcoweb.com Check em out! Their debut, A.M. is heavily underrated, mainly as Being There was so awesome. AM is slightly more country, more like the old Uncle Tupelo days. If you get an UT album, get Still Feel Gone. This is one of the finest albums EVER. Once you buy all the UT albums you'll want to check out Son Volt, the offshoot band. Jay Farrar had the better voice of the two, but Tweedy is a more adventurous musician. Both are gods in their own right. I believe i was the one who started the rumour about Jeff Tweedy and Liz doing a duet. I did once suggest it to Jeff, so i'll take the claim. Now if someone can suggest it to Liz!! On to other bands.... Anyone here like The Go-Betweens? their new album has Sleater-Kinney backing them! The band (without S-K) played in London last night, after 11 years away and they were wonderful. If they come to your town, SEE THEM!!! Off to see Idlewild tonight, a great Scottish band. like a punk R.E.M. I think you'll like them. C "and i wonder how i've come to know so much less than i knew before" ... Joseph Lee Henry. "i know the promise is so much better than the real thing" ... I read it on krs.com. It really sucks. Why does it suck? Considering they put out 5 albums in the past 5 years and have gone on countless tours in that time (as well as all the other bands they are involved with and have toured with!), it's about time those ladies took a break, dontcha think?!? i just found out that the new PJ harvey has actually been postponed in the states until next tuesday! ive had the album for awhile now though, as well as the new poe (which is...odd), cuz there's a record store here that gets them early and the nice lady there always let's me buy stuff really early (even tho it's totally not legal) because i always shop there. im seeing neko case and her boyfriends tomorrow. and going to a queer pumpkin carving party. happy :) steve ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2000 20:39:50 EDT From: "Daaaaan Theman" Subject: Liz theme song! This is such a crazy coincidence, I NEVER, EVER watch TV, but I turned it on to NBC last night and right after "friends" ended I hear Liz! She was singing the theme song to a stupid new show "Cursed". It was way retro, kinda jazzy, but it had multiple voice parts that she sang. That's all. Don't know if she wrote it, but she sounded great. Capitol is probably already starting to promote the new CD. The move to LA at least is giving Liz some well deserved attention, but TV theme songs? I guess it's one way of crossing over. Anyway, that's all for now. - -Dan _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Ok, so I swear I just heard Liz Phair's voice singing the theme song to the new sitcom "Cursed" on NBC (after "Friends"). Anyone know the haps? :) Jaime ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2000 00:22:02 EDT From: Emerald314@aol.com Subject: Blair Witch 2, Poe, Liz I just got home from an advance screening of Blair Witch 2 (a whole day ahead of the release, aren't I priveleged...haha--that was a joke, don't worry). But it was free so that's good. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is because I thought some people might be interested to know that Poe's "Haunted" is played over the closing credits. I was very excited about that. In case anyone is interested, I thought the movie was pretty good. I was glad to go in with no knowledge of what it would be like at all. I thought it really retained the spirit of the first one (no pun intended) while at the same time being completely different. If and when you see it, you should go to ain'titcool.com and read Harry Knowles review of it because it explained a lot of cool stuff that I didn't even pick up on. The more I think about the movie, the more I like it. On a Liz note, I saw the beginning of the new NBC show Cursed tonight and I swear that it sounded like Liz singing the theme song! Did anyone else see this? Am I losing my mind? It sounded exactly like her. Does anyone know anything about this? Okay, that's all for now... ~Emily ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V3 #289 ************************************
