Whilst flipping through the September Select (UK mag) I came across a Liz mention in the form of this: Lauren Larvene (she sings in that nice little love song:Don't Falter by Mint Royale)- I fell out of a tree "Joyful electro-boosted indie midway between LIZ PHAIR and Tallulah Gosh. Sings like a horse, but with vigour." Who's Tallulah Gosh? I made a Liz comp. for my friend (mostly EIG and WCSE stuff - WS's my least fav) and she LOVES it! I'm so proud, another convert! Yay!!!!! Excellent about the new album! And as for her touring or putting out more cd's, well I'll go for cd's considering she would never come to Australia. But if she did come here, then I'll go for touring. Has anyone else on here got Placebo's new album, Black Market Music? It is NOT good. I practically only like 1 song on it. The other songs generally have silly lyrics e.g. "Hi Mom" and the music isn't that grand. It's a bit disappointing but considering the stuff I'd heard prior to buying it, I'm not too surprised. Anyway if you're considering buying a Placebo album, DO NOT buy Black Market Music. Buy Without You I'm Nothing or Placebo. But I love When The Pawn...which I just bought recently, its so bitter, I love it! I'll stop rambling, from a soon ex-school student, Sally "And if you want to make sense, what'ca looking at me for? Jase - today was the day that I WOULD HAVE met Liz Phair with you in TORONTO, had I not had my pelvic bone splintered and broken while driving to see Liz Phair in Michigan the night before. That woulda been great...Liz Phair, back to back - 2 different nights, to different cities, 2 different countries. But noooooooooooooooooo I had to ram into a car and ruin everything. So for me, October 19th and October 20th will go down in history as two of the shittiest days in existence. Love always, Daniel. I honestly wouldn't want Liz to put out an album every year because then it wouldn't seem "special" when she did. There's nothing better than getting a new album by an artist and then waiting in anticipation to see them live. It's like Christmas or something. I live for concerts, so I would hate to see Liz become just a studio artist. Have fun seeing Aimee Mann and Juliana Hatfield in Cleveland, Julie. I saw Juliana last week and got to meet her. She's a super nice and cool person. She sounds great in concert too. I tried to get tickets to the Harper College show but it was sold out. Oh well. Next time.... Buddy is either in the studio with Liz >Phair (courtesy of John Sands) or scoring a soundtrack with Penn (courtesy >of Michael Lockwood). I tend to believe Sands. Lockwood is prolly just >mixing up facts. He's new after all. (well, new to this CURRENT line-up!) >In any event, Buddy WILL return. Woo hoo!! Aimee has pretty much confirmed >that she will not be touring the East Coast again this year. I guess as soon as Buddy returns to Aimee's touring band, we can assume that Liz's album is finished. Only thing is, what if Liz and Aimee decide to tour at the same time? Which one will Buddy be with? Same goes for Jebin as well, since he's joined Aimee's live band as well. (Although, interestingly enough, he's still playing with Aimee on the current set of dates, which must mean that he's already been in the studio for all his parts on Liz's new record or maybe she's not using him after all for the sessions.) I hope we hear more news soon on how the sessions are going. I know Billboard said the album's expected in mid-2001, but maybe there's a chance the album will be out a little bit sooner. One can hope... Cheers, Jase ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Oct 2000 19:20:20 GMT From: "brent cleland" Subject: quality is the Phair way << Which situation would people prefer? Katie, I have to go both ways on this issue. Of coarse we all want the best Liz we can get but sometimes I just want some Liz no matter what. I guess it is much like sex, when sometimes you just want it nevermind all the hoopla. But with Liz she does seem to make us wait for her genius. And it always seems to reflect where she is in life. I am very interested to see the evolution of this soccer mom from wcse. The time off has to be somewhat of a damning thing for her. Because with the anitcipation we as avid fans have, we expect a masterpiece. Which is not fair to her but... I just want to some new LIZ......plese NP: Yo LA TENGO genius + love _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
