Dan, you and I are of a mind. NONE of "alternative" rock would have been possible without Bowie. He is THA SHIT. I bought this little dream book, that is very much so geared towards teens, because I was curious about this weird dream I've been having and what it means. But it has quotes on the bottom of every page and, low and behold, on the one page about sexy dreams it reads "I lie awake every night/ Thinking about you, I fantisize. -Liz Phair, 'Fantasize.'" I was just like, "Ohmigod." It always surprises me when I hear or read a qoute of hers because not many people have heard of Liz, at least that I talk to. Like one time a few years ago I was listening to a show on National Public Radio and through the whole show they would occassionally play the beginning guitar part from "Shatter." That made me giddy. On NPR! But anyway, I'm just glad she's getting out there and that she's being mentioned in books for teens! Yeah exposure. ...That's all my two cents. Until later... _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. For those who don't know him, he's pretty much the critic of record, like the NY Times being the paper of record. I've been e-mailing the various lists I'm on about this book, mostly with news of bad or worse reviews of various artists he's slammed. But not Liz thank goodness. The reviews are too long to write here, and these reviews are from his consumer guide collumn for the Vilage Voice, NY indy paper, and are only one paragraph long but long paragraphs. E-mail me off list if you want the whole thing, I can Xerox them, looking them up at the VV site would take too long to go do. But if you want to it's villagevoice.com. Grades for Liz: Guyville A (he grades albums like a teacher) WS, two stars, honerable mention, which means very good album for fans only, Juvennilia A-, WCSE A. Good job Liz.
