I was wonder what people thought about them. I bought there lastest album, _All Hands on the Bad One_ and I think it is quite good. I have been reading stuff on the web about S-K and there does not seem to be any connection with Liz. Do people see musically similarities in the the two performers? Any mutual influence? Before October 31, I STRONGLY urge you to read _House of Leaves_ by POE's brother, Mark Z. Danielewski. They sort of fed off each other as inspiration. The book is just as creepy as POE's new album. It really screws with your mind. :P Read it!! Erin - ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Michael Honaker" Reply-To: "Michael Honaker" To: Subject: POE - "Haunted"... Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 15:15:16 -0700 Ok... the album (as anticipated) kicks ass. A friend of mine gave me a disc the other day (don't know where he got it, but it wasn't a manufactured disc, just a maxell cd-r) that had "haunted" written on it. He said someone gave it to him at work and that I should listen to it, that it was really good.. immediately I flipped because I was thinking "ok this has got to be Poe" cause the track list would sound strange for anything else... anyone who doesn't know the tracklist, say so and I'll post it. I don't want to waste too much space here. So I brought it home and started listening to it last night. (haven't had time to do it til then.) Ok for those of you who haven't heard it yet (cause I know the album isn't out yet), the first track, "Exploration B" is like an intro... but creepy if anything. You hear strange noises, then a phone being dialed, then ringing, then an answering machine message, then Poe starts singing (through the phone apparently)... "Thought you should know, Daddy died today. He closed his eyes and he left you at 12:03. He sends his love. He wanted you to know he isn't holding a grudge, and if you are, you should let go." Then she speaks impatiently: "you there? pick up. pick up please? mom? hello?" That cues into "Haunted" which is a good transition. Most of the album so far flows from one track to the next without gaps. I have only made it halfway through the disc, and I plan on listening to the rest tonight. I've made it through to track 9, "Not A Virgin". So far, this album rocks. all the tracks so far have an eerie feeling to them, no wonder it's got a halloween release date. I really don't know how to describe the sound though. Some parts sound like "Hello", but theres other stuff... weird noises and vocal effects. Great lyrics though. I found that when she's singing on the answering machine in the first track, she sounds SO much like Liz. Listening to it makes me long for the new Liz record. If anyone is interested I'll post some more about it after I get it listened to a few times today. (i actually have time). Also if anyone is interested, I can put up a few sound clips (not the whole songs.) at Supernova if anyone wants to hear some. I'll have to put them in real audio, but it will be in stereo, and no static sound. sorry this post was so long... just thought people would like to know. - -Michael _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
