Now for the point people have brought up about our generation being targeted...I remember growing up and thinking how goofy my parents' generation was that they could actually be tapped into by Freedom Rock ads which ran for enough years that it had to have been successful. I didn't notice as much when all the 70's collections were being offered by Time/Life but it was a definite punch to the gut when they started hocking 80's collections. I think the part that bothered me the most is that the guy selling it was somebody that nobody who is even fifteen would recognize (unless they happenned to see the Pirates of Pinzance) because everything that he's ever done was buried in the 80's. So that's when I really felt dated. At least using our music to sell cars is sort of a compliment whereas selling those collections is just trying to leech us. sigh, Gabe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have been meaning to check out Lida Husik for roughly 3 or 4 years now. I really like the song "Fly Stereophonic"...Is the album any good? Where should I start with her? Or can anyone reccomend a song or two I can check out on Napster to get me a lil' taste? Lemme know. Valerie-- I'm sitting here laughing... I read the digest only down to Jen Lott's post about songs in commercials, quickly penned out my two-cents worth & hit the ol' delete key--hence missing your words on the subject! I didn't even know you had piped up about this until I read Jase's (I think) reply. And the Buzzcocks? Isn't that the one for the Rav4 when the guy pulls up to the lake & all of his gear just starts flying out by the lakeside? I mean, it isn't like they were playing "No Aloha" or anything > :) god, that would be FANTASTIC.... that would almost be as good as 6'1''. i think i'd have a fucking coronary. wow, just that line "...saw it on the wall: motherhood means mental freeze..."; (which i personally don't agree with but) that's such a no-holds-barred, brazen, simple line. i bow down. . > After watching the MTV awards, I was like, disgraced at the state of music > today. It's horrible. All I could keep thinking during the awards was how > pissed off and bored everyone there looked - and all i could say was > "something is gonna snap really soon..." here's the solution: read about it on salon.com; that's how i get clued in to "survivor" and "big brother." you don't wanna watch that stuff--BORING!! no, have some great writers TELL you about it. it's way mo' bettah. the one about the MTV awards is hilarious. you're laughing *with* them.... >And someone had a website who was tabbing out Liz songs and asked what song >we wanted tabbed out next....how about Shatter? That one has always alluded >me on guitar... yes!!! pleeeeeeeze!! "shatter" sounds deceptively simple; just like "dead shark"; the tabs out there on that one aren't quite right. i don't know what the hell she does.... makes me nuts. today, john stamos gave me a little wave as i walked past... ha ha... i didn't know he was there and i was on my way to change into my "normal" clothes and these girls were saying "hey, there's the superstar..." and i looked over and there he was. i was an extra on a movie he's filming. first i was a "hooker" and then, after lunch, i was a "lesbian." so, i've got *that* goin' for me..... bye for now, dp ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V3 #245 ************************************
