I hear ya, Jase. We had the same reaction around here when we heard the Buzzcocks being used to hawk SUVs. Bleh. De-cloaking to ask the following question...I was perusing thru my Cd collection yesterday, feeling in a verry eclectic mood when I came across a cd I haven't listened to in quite awhile. Anyone on here ever hear of Lida Husik? She has an album called Joyride that is asolutely fantastic. I would describe her voice as sort of a subdued stevie nicks, sort of a soft lilting spacey kind of voice. She does all the vocals and plays some excellent guitar work which is somewhat reminiscent of Liz in a way. If anyone has heard of Lida or her work, let me know I'm not the only one! As far as a Liz 'Stairway" song...I would have to say Mesmerizing is what I think of when I think of Liz. And someone had a website who was tabbing out Liz songs and asked what song we wanted tabbed out next....how about Shatter? That one has always alluded me on guitar... off to smoke some opium.... Has anyone else seen this? ...honey, here's what's going on: we are now a desirable demographic for high-ticket items like cars. when the boomers were being targeted, chevy busted out the bob seger. now they want to target edgy gen-xers (i can't believe i just used that term), so it's the breeders and buffalo tom and the buzzcocks (as well as several bands that don't start with 'b'). mitsubishi seems to be the biggest culprit. and it works...a few choice guitar licks, and even an anti-television guy such as yourself whips his head around to see what's cookin' on the tube. they've got us right where they want us (assuming financial solvency, that is)... ...which brings me to a fun little thread for all of you creative sup systers and brothers...if liz was going to allow one of her songs to be used to hawk a product, what song, what product and why? and let's just assume that all proceeds from such a "sell-out" will go either to charity or to make sure little nick gets a fine education. my dog is having issues, gotta go... xo...valerie, who finally has a cool new job (starting soon!) and will no longer be poor! p.s.
