Sandra asked: >i'm working on a project of sorts, and lizsters have great music taste. what >would you say are the Top Five (hello Rob Fleming) albums released in 2000? My pics: 1. Aimee Mann: Bachelor No. 2 2. Sleater-Kinney: All Hands on the Bad One 3. Michael Penn: MP4 (Days Since a Lost Time Accident) 4. Elliott Smith: Figure 8 5. Eels: Daisies of the Galaxy I've also really enjoyed the following: The Loud Family: Attractive Nuisance XTC: Wasp Star (Apple Venus, Volume Two) The Spinanes: Imp Years (EP) Guided By Voices: Hold On Hope (EP) Kristin Hersh: A Cleaner Light (EP) When the mood is right, these are good too: Jules Shear: Allow Me Joni Mitchell: Both Sides Now Patti Smith: Gung Ho Leona Naess: Comatised Shelby Lynne: I Am Shelby Lynne I really don't know where exactly I'd rank Juliana Hatfield's _Beautiful Creature_ or Elastica's _The Menace_ just yet. I get the feeling both will rank high among my picks at the end of the year, but it's hard to know for sure where they fit in after owning them both for just a couple of days. I think they'll both hold up well, but with so much great music already out this year and more on the way, it's probably best not to jump the gun. Overall, I think this year has been incredible for music so far; certainly the best year in at least the last two or three. Hi Dan (sorry for the delayed response), the URL to Mesmerizing is: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ Interestingly enough, I never added a wcse sessions webpage to my site (strange, no?). I guess I should -- give all the sordid details about the tapes and how I acquired them. I've posted bits and pieces of those details in Support System, but never the whole story (I think). Should I do this? Probably, to give me a reason to update my site... ;) - -Ken kenmlee@ix.netcom.com MeSmErIzInG - AnOtHeR LiZ PhAiR WeBsItE http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/2471/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Aug 2000 09:38:35 +0200 (CEST) From: Gijs Subject: Re: support-system-digest V3 #227 CD relaeases in Europe: late and expensive. it pays, both in speed and price, to order online in the US. This was her original band. It's total ear candy kind of stuff but it's really catchy. It's sort of a greatest hits album of the stuff she put out in the late eighties. And on the Boston theme, are there any other Guster fans out there? And whatever happened to Mr. E.?
