Anyone remember the band the MURMURS?? For sure you all do! Anyway, I got the chance to see them at a little teeny weeny bar (a gay bar too!) in Detroit called The Rainbow Room. Steve - Sorry u didn't get to make it...it was the coolest thing. It was soooo intimate...just them and 2 acoustic guitars. They opened with the song "SMASH"...sang a bunch of classic Murmur songs and ended with UNDERDOG - which is my favorite off the "Blender" album. Anyway, I was front row..and at one point Heather was like "WOw...we are singing to a room full of lesbians tonight!!" and I was like "Ya..and one guy in the front row!" and they winked at me and Leisha gave me a little wave. So after the show - the bar cleared out a bit - and who walks out infront of my table but Heather and Leisha. AFter begging my friend Nancy for a pen (she still had no idea they were right there) I waltzed on up to them and started chatting it up. heather signed my cd cover and apologized for almost hitting me with the microphone stand when she knocked it over during "YOU SUCK" and then Leisha turned to me and was like "Hey! It's yoU!!!" and she was like "I was waving to you, you know.." and she signed my CD "To the boy in the front row...." They were the cutest band EVER EVER EVER!! So adorable!!! Soooo sweet too!! They sang 2 new songs - they sounded really good - but they said there is going to be a full band on the album..so they will most likely be more rocking. The new album comes out around Xmas time, or maybe January...just updating for all you Murmur fans...it was such a cool show...the sound really sucked though - and at one point (after singing with no mic sound for like, 2 songs) Heather got on the other mic and she was like "Okay..this is not my personality at all - I don't wanna sound like a dick - - we just wanna put on a good show for you guys - but our sound sucks and no one is here to do anything! WHere is the sound man?? Please - someone fix this...we sound horrible! we just wanna put on a good show..." they were just sooo sweet about everything...Leisha was like, really shy and had her eyes down the whole time while Heather was yelling at the sound guy...like, not even yelling..just like, asking where he was!! Okay, I am going on and on now...but it was really neat... anyways...that's my concert report. Next is WEEZER - and then - THE BANGLES!!!! Woo hooo!! "Infidel" is one of two songs (the other being "Shirley MacLaine") that Liz contributed backing vocals to from the first Ashtray Boy album, _The Honeymoon Suite_, which was released in 1992 and marks Liz's first appearance on record (Liz's own Girly Sound material doesn't really count, since it was never "officially" released). I'm not sure how Liz hooked up with Ashtray Boy, but the album was released by Feel Good All Over, which is a label owned by John Henderson, who was originally supposed to release Liz's first record, until they had a falling out over how it would sound. Liz continued working with Brad Wood on her own, asked him who the coolest indie was (he responded, "Matador"), and the rest is history. Can we all tell I read a lot of articles and stuff?
