Let's start with the CONS then. CONS: The jerk who didn't tear tickets right, so I don't have a ticket stub from my Lilith. The price of the food and water. Even worse...people walking by with food that had onions in them. *gag* Fainting odometer? It was general admission, which made it hard to get out of the crowd to get water and such. Music festival in FL weather in July? Good luck. PROS: Finally getting to see Meredith Brooks on the stage. My mom loved seeing Bonnie Raitt and Natalie Merchant and has been a fan since we've gone. Hearing Sarah's "Elsewhere" live. I heard she didn't play this song too often during Lilith '98. Having my bear for Sarah land on the stage. Yeah, Liz isn't the only one who has a bear. I dunno if Sarah ever got it though. *shrugs* My pictures turned out good. Taking a nice long shower, getting the mud off. Ahh... A little Liz story to share: Gave my friend a copy of EIG for her b-day, she had this big smile on her face. Guess it was a good buy, since she's heard me talk about Liz so much. I'm not usually up this late..... Hey everyone, I just had an idea that I wanted to run by you all and see if anyone's interested. Although I haven't participated in it, on the Loud Family list I'm on, interested subscribers take part in a tape swap, whereby everyone who signs up makes a mix tape or CD-R of music they like, which they then send to whoever they've been assigned to make the mix for. We could work it out so that the person you make the tape or CD for could make one for you, or it could be someone else entirely who makes a mix for you, so people receive mixes from someone other than who they made their mix for. I think this is done on a bi-monthly basis on the Loud Family list, which seems like a pretty good timeframe -- six swaps per year. I figured that we are all huge music fans on this list who are always interested in hearing and checking out new artists or bands, and this might be a way of gaining exposure to some music we would not have heard otherwise. Also, it'd be a good way of sampling artists we're curious about, before actually spending any money on their albums. If there's an interest in doing so, people could review or comment on the tapes they receive on the list; if the general consensus is that this may lead to too much off-topic discussion or overburden the list, I wouldn't mind setting up a separate one for such discussions. If anyone's interested in participating, send an e-mail to me at with your name, address and whether you'd prefer making and receiving CDs or cassettes. If there seems to be enough interest, I can go ahead and set something up. It's been a long time since I've organized any tape trees on this list, and this might be something cool to try instead. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
