I saw the PB video on M2! Yeah. I was excited cus I have never seen a liz video on tv. NINA LIST INFO: Jon Brion had WAY too much influence on the recording on this album. I like him as a producer, but Louise wrote the solo's basically. Nina has said she cannot really play them. Thus nearly every song has a guitar solo/music that sounds nearly exactly like an Aimee Mann song. It bothers me how much of Brion's writing sounds very very similar. How many times can you hear that same damn organ in a song?! I love the album though! I'm surprised he made Nina sound like Aimee Mann, I would have thought he wouldn't He didn't do that with Finona Apple, who has a very diffrent sound. I must get this album, I'm really curious about it now, from what everyone has told me. I picked up SPIN magazine (the new one, with the CUTIE from the upcoming Star Wars movie on the front) and there is a review of Nina's album - and it isn't all that nice. They gave her a C- but all in all - I have to admit, I kinda agreed with the write up. It just basically said that there are parts on the album that are a bit "too sweet" and it lacked high points. I've been trying my hardest too, to like the album...been playing it on and off - playing it right now...and some songs do get stuck in my head... but - I am still a wee bit disapointed.. I don't know why I expected so much more...I don't mind the single "Tonight and the rest of My Life" either, it's kinda pretty... I really have no clue why she is so instrumentally dormant on this one either. She barely touches her guitar. Did it break or something? and the first song - that I used to kinda like...okay - lines like "He likes to try on all my clothes/ but not my underwear" - just sorta make it REALLY hard to like the song. I don't know...I am soo torn..like - I could SOOO easily like an album like this... but I don't know how to word it... it just seems like it is missing something, like, DEEPER down... some of the songs just seem kinda plastic to me... oh well, I'm gonna keep on playing it and hopefully my mind will change a WEE little bit. Like a bat out of hell...
