YEP--totally. tipper gore is *not* evil. sorry, nice try. she was unfairly lambasted. all she was trying to do was have some sort of a rating system for music the way they do for movies. is that bad?? listen, obviously i am ALL FOR free speech and noncensorship, but she was NOT into censorship. she just wanted to provide some sort of guideline system because, by and large, through no fault of their own, most parents simply do not have the time to get current with the latest sounds. they're "ignorant," not stupid. and that's... OK. everyone freaked out at that time because the big stores threatened to not carry anything with the dreaded sticker on it. but then artists started voluntarily slapping one on their own stuff and the stores backed off once they realized, hey, sales are sales. now they "clean" stuff... whatever. as was mentioned, DON'T buy stuff at target, K-mart, or, jesus, wal-mart, for chrissakes. go to tower. DUH! anyway, as far as the "rating system" goes, this has been an area of ongoing controversy in the film industry every since they started it. everyone bitches and moans about it, but, sorry, there's gotta be some sort of guideline for parents--they demanded one, and for good reason. that way at least you have a chance of making an informed decision. it's not about protecting children from all the evils of the world--it's about being informed. that's all. dp ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jun 2000 17:07:05 EDT From: Emo5858@aol.com Subject: Flower Cover Someone wrote saying that they didn't like the Pansy Division version of - -flower-. But since I've met you and moved to Sydney, I haven't listened to one Abba song. That's because my life is as good as an Abba song.
