I liked it a lot, but I don't recall her mentioning a Jay Leno appearence. Also......whot with all the talk about Veruca Salt lately, I must weigh in and say that I really dig the new album a lot. I think it is damn awesome, and prolly the best rock album of the year so far. And, also, I am *messing* myself with anticipation over Nina Gordon's solo album. From what I have heard, it is really good, if not all that veruca-esque. Liz content: I have really been re-discovering WCSE as a whole lately. It's a helluvan album. Later. Anyway, she organized Actually, to be technically correct, it wasn't 2 Live Crew that sparked it all with her. It was 1984 and the album was Prince's "Purple Rain"... the song that pushed her was "Darling Nikki". Which hillariously enough is about the least offensive of all music I've heard to this day. "I met her in a hotel lobby mastrubating with a magazine" Compare that to what music mostly consists of today and it doesn't seem that bad...I didn't even think it was back then. Don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting her or anything... I mean maybe they end up with an edited version cause the got it Wal-Mart, so thier friend wasn't such a dope and got it at any run of the mill chain store in the mall. Now they're equipped with all the four letter words they can seem to find themselves so fond of because they're so forbidden, and then the next time they buy an album they've learned their lesson of sorts and they do go to the actual record store rather than Wal-Mart. Nobody there is going to tell them that they can't buy this or that because of the content. And you're certainly not going to be able to stop them....i don't know that i think you should be able to. I mean you take away the video games, the movies...the music..what are you solving? I'm not saying that you're saying we should..but..eh..nevermind. It will mean a lot in terms of people accepting it and not thinking something is wrong about it. As someone who has a learning disabilty and is in therapy for it, it was nice to see someone so prominent speaking out about her own bettles with depression and calling for better mental health coverage by insurance companies. Hey everyone, Dana sent a reply to me to one of the posts I had made on the list a couple of days ago, and I thought that she made a lot of good points and that others here might be interested in reading it and responding further. It seems funny that we haven't heard anything about those yet, considering last year, the discs were released right around this time." I dunno about the film, there was talk about it though. I do know that Nettwerk does plan on releasing discs from last year's tour. Guess we'll have to wait for those cuz they didn't mention anything about a release date as of yet. It's one thing for Chan Marshall to give it a Phairian twist and put it out for 1000 people to hear. But Spears, once again it's just an obvious attempt to appeal to the lowest common denominators of the general public. I sincerely get the impression that a group of suits sat down and actually tried to pick a song that would have the widest DEMOGRAPHIC appeal. It's got nothing to do with the song other than the demographic potential for this years' (god-help if it's a decade) David Cassidy.
