And who > headed up this group, Tipper > Gore, Al's wife. The reason why it has to be reminded to people that Al's wife is Tipper Gore is that she practically went into hiding after this whole ordeal. She felt almost like a victim by being puppetted by the PMRC into views that she didn't agree with (necessarily). She wanted to be able to have an idea what was sort of music was being presented (like we have with ratings on movies) because of some situation like her kid getting 2LIVECREW or something. Anyway, she organized a group that mostly consisted of politician's wives that she had hoped would lead to parents having a better idea of what sort of music their kids were listening to. It then blew up into censorship etc. and she was the butt to every latenight joke and political cartoons. As a result, she became very introverted which is why we haven't seen her forever. So we probably don't have any worries about losing musical choice if she becomes first lady, if anything, we'll probably just lose having a first lady that grabs attention as much as the one now (is that a bad thing?). I thought that was pretty cool. Salam, Mariam The best and most beautiful things in this world can neither be seen nor touched, but can be felt with the heart. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2000 13:51:33 EDT From: AWeiss4338@aol.com Subject: Re: Tipper Gore Most of this I agree with. And for some of the music around today, like Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, or Ememem, I'm not sure I'd want my kid listenting to them, if I had a kid. It's a lot more transgressive then the 2Live Crew was. But I don't need some kind of rating system telling me what kind of music is good and bad. And it is censorship. And if Tipper didn't agree with what the PMRC was saying, why didn't she break away from the group and renounce them. She didn't because she agreed with them. Anyone who remembers the 80's knows this. I like Hillary, and think she would make a good senator, and don't mind that she wants a lot of attention. For all her faults, she's as far as I know, aginast censorship and that's good.
