Here goes: 1) Hey Dan-- yer kidding, right???? Louise and the new Veruca Salt did "Volcano Girls" and "Seether"???? Those are NINA'S SONGS and doubtlessly VS's biggest/only hits. So, for Lousie and co. to play these songs and then turn around and badmouth Nina is just so.....so.....help me out here.......low???? Geez. Let's see you write a hit, Weezie!!! I am looking forward to VS's new one, but I gotsta say I am looking forward to Nina's a wee bit more. She seems much more well-adjusted. What the hell happened between these two??? There's gotta be something there not saying. 2) Dammit, I want Aimee Mann's Bachelor No. 2!!!!!!!! It IS in stores now, rite??? I have scoured my tri-state area! No one has heard of it! I have had bad experiences with online ordering, but if it comes to that, so be it. And the same goes for Mary Timony's "Mountains". I want that damn thing but every damn retailer swears it doesn't exist! *sigh* I am a very troubled person. Can ya tell??? Okay: Here's some Liz content--I was walking through the mall the other day and I heard Supernova coming out of Finish Line. That freakin' made my week! How awesome is that??? Latuh. (Warning: very little Liz content of any value. Sorry. Proceed at your own risk.) Hi there, fellow SupSys folks! Just dropping a line to check in, although I haven't read the last few weeks' digests (I'm slipping again). For anyone who cares, as of May 1st I've started a new job as Account Coordinator at an advertising agency, and I love it! So what, you say? Well, I say this for the benefit of others out there, who feel the way I felt for much of my 9 1/2 years at my previous employer: bored, frustrated, feeling the fit just isn't right... but afraid to make a change. I'm just the latest example who can now say "Go ahead and do it!" I've been finding for the past year that the most rewarding adventures in life come after (perhaps because of?) the most stressful, soul-searching periods. Questions for the college students out there, relating to an account I'm working on: Do you use candles (votive or jar form), either in your dorm room or your apartment? What appeals to you when you are buying candles? Why would you buy a particular brand over another? What would be the best way(s) to introduce a new candle product to you? I'm very interested in your feedback. Please e-mail me privately! Miniscule Liz content: my boyfriend has decided that Liz's music is too "dark" for him to get into. Huh? What about What Makes You Happy, Supernova, many other "up" and/or humorous songs, I asked him? But he still maintains that opinion. Go figure. So long for now... And up to a point I agree with Trent, I don't think this is a perticurally good time for rock right now. However this is the pot calling the kettle black. Trent and the rest of his whiny macho ilk I wish very much would go away starting today. They are dragging down rock music today. Want to know why Aimee isn't a bigger sucess, because her style of music, adlut, intelegent truly alternative rock, is so out of fashon and Trent and his kind have made it this way. Not to mention sexist, homophobic crap like Blink 182 and Limp Buzkit making it hard, the way it usually is, for women to get taken seriously as musicians. I'll say this for the teen bands, they don't degrade women, or gay people, and as sappy as they are, sound a hell of a lot more plesent then Trent whining about how screwed up his trivial little life is. Or Chris Cornell. Or Fred Durst with "bitch this, whore that, fag there, dyke here," in all of his songs, who makes a video for his band's song Re-Arrannged where your suppose to take pity on them for being blamed for insiting the crowd at Woodstock 99 to rape, riot, and loot. Oh yeah, I feel so sorry for him, even if the charges are true, which they are. Louise is so pathetic, she disses Nina at the show, and from your setlist, plays all of Nina's songs! What a flake! That really makes me laugh, now I am really not considering buying that album after all. How can she possibly use the name Veruca Salt when it's an entirely different band? I have absolutely no respect for her whatsoever. Doesn't she have any dignity? Can't she play her own damn songs? Wait no, because she was obviously a much less talented songwriter than Nina anyway. In regards to Cinco De Mayo, I had to listen to the song yesterday as cheesy as it is. Louise supposedl did a really good job, even tho the first single isnt good (catchy and cheesy- its the label shit). i read a review on how the new album is awesome and how VS is still as good as tehy have ever been. Plus, even Nina likes the new record. I really cant wait for it. Nina's new album is gonna be 2 poppy. I dont feel like buying a Jewel-esque album (no offense nina, i love you!). i may burn it, or buy it, what the hell. the songs r very well crafted (ive heard most of them- very good, but very pop). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 May 2000 00:58:24 EDT From: HOLEPARTS@aol.com Subject: Re: State of "popular" music today In a message dated 5/6/00 8:38:01 PM Central Daylight Time, AWeiss4338@aol.com writes: << Or Chris Cornell >> i have to disagree about chris cornell being included in that category. he is in no way shape or form like that son of a bitch Trent Reznor on Fred Durst. he is a really talented artist. his solo cd was SO good. it is probably in my personal top 5 albums of the year. it was great, and it wasnt phony. he is real, and he doesnt have to knock other artists to prove it ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 May 2000 01:02:00 EDT From: HOLEPARTS@aol.com Subject: Re: Veruca SALT!!! It sorta makes sense to me now, but for a while i really didnt get why louise would do that. i kept thinking that the new VS would really suck, but i have been completely impressed. their new stuff is really pretty good, and if you guys like, give it a chance. im expecting it to be one of the best rock albums of the year ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V3 #121 ************************************
