ACK! me again.... i'm in the middle of making all these tapes for a big ol' road trip i'm takin' this week (to denver), and i dug up some gems.... (someone asked about other music we listen to). they're kinda mainstream-y, but oh well... ashley macisaac: i love this man (he has my heart; i used to play the violin...) the verve: everybody talks about radiohead, but hey.... also, remember the cocteau twins? i miss them.... dp ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2000 18:30:24 -0400 (EDT) From: Gerardo Subject: what's wrong with you guys?/Lemonheads Hello everyone... i've been reading these mails saying unbelieveable stuff like starting to dislike a band or artist if they start to get comercial recognition or whatever... does it really matter? i don't understand that position very well... What's the problem with everyone talking about radiohead for example? (to that guy who wrote that...) You all know what i mean, thank you. Also, is there any lemonheads fans here? evan is coming up with a new solo album soon... i miss him bad. I liked Tragic Kingdom a lot and I don't know enough about the band to know if their new popularity would give them a 2nd album slump. (No Liz - Chicago - HiFidelity) Hello Everyone, My name is Jason, Im a cancer, and I like long walks on the beach. Actually I just stumbled upon the list, and me thinks its cool. So enough with the intro. I just wanted to let Sandra know about what to do when she is in town. (I hope Im not too late) I hope your over 21 also. If your not, email me back and I will give other recommendations. 1.) Make sure you have lots of cash. 2.) Goto www.chireader.com, to see what shows are playing where in our esteemed clubs. Schubas, and Martyr's are two great places. RIP Lounge Ax 3.) Dining: There are plenty of places to go, and many of em you can walk to from your hotel. But if you are going to be with friends, one of our favorite places to go is Cafe Iberico on Chicago and Lasalle. Its a tapas restaurant, with a great atmosphere. Make sure you get the Queso de Cavra and the Sangria. You will have allot of fun for very little deniro. 4.) Clubs - Pauche - Funky Buddha Lounge - 700W on Grand Ave really cool spot, but its expensive and a see and be seen atmosphere. Dragon Room - Also a very hip club And GLOW (very hard to get into). Most cabbies will know where these places are, or you can goto Metromix.com My best bet is going to Rush and Division. Its a part college, part yuppie area. Leg Room (23+) and the Hunt Club are cool places to go there. Those are just a few suggestions, if you want more please email me. High Fidelity (****) Really great movie from a really great book, with a REALLY REALLY great soundtrack. One of Liz's songs was in the movie but is not in the soundtrack. If you haven't read the book yet, go out and read it, its written by Nick Hornby. Its set in London, and is really descriptive. Cusak did a good job of moving it, and relaying the best parts of dialogue. Did anyone else see the movie? Its one of the best of the year. That's all from me.
