It has nothing to do with the Pixies themselves and does not appear on any tribute album. The Ben Lee disc is pretty swell, though, and is worth searching out. Also, two-thirds of it was produced by Brad Wood and the remaining third by Casey Rice, both Liz associates. "Away With the Pixies" is a song from Ben Lee's first solo album, "Grandpaw Would." Casey Rice and Brad Wood both produce some songs and LIZ sings back up on the song. Also, if you're into The Spinanes (which I am), Rebecca Gates also sings back up. On "Away With the Pixies," even though she's da back up, you can definitely pick out LIZ's amazing voice. :) I saw Ben Lee in concert last year at a small club and I love him even though he looks like some sort of odd animal. :) - -Jennifer ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Apr 2000 20:42:09 -0400 From: Jason Long Subject: Bounced message From: Andza Wegrzynowicz Subject: a music tidbit... I just wanted to add a nugget to our diverse pot of music goodness... I am currently in love with a band called Shivaree. First heard them on UPenn radio station, WXPN (cool station w/ web site/streaming audio) Kind of a Mazzy Star/Cowboy Junkies type voice with really interesting/(whimsical?) music, and kinda Liz-like irony in the tone of voice vs. what the the lyrics are actually saying. I am quite addicited. Got their album 'I Oughtta Give You a Shot in the Head for Making Me Live in this Dump' (how classic!!) @ Amazon...
