I know they're a bunch of clowns (bad pun) but they're a riot to listen to. I also like Tool and old school Korn. KoRn?) > Just asking... in my cd collection, i have just about everything. however, i do tend to lean toward chick singers. anywho, i also listen to rage against the machine, dead kennedys, aphex twin, P.E., jimi hendrix..... i think the best song to turn folks into liz phans would be divorce song or jealousy. a friend of mine tried to turn me into a liz phan in 1994. but i wasn't having it! i think i was turned off by her voice at first. and, i was an adamant, can't listen to anything else, juliana hatfield fan at the time! then, about a year later i got juvenilia because of the cover "turning Japanese." and loved jealousy..... then i i bought EIG and loved divorce song. it probably helped that i was getting a divorce at 21, but anyway. i don't think anyone else speaks soo frank about those two things jealousy and break ups. it really hit home for me. does anyone live in iowa??? it was funny when WCSE came out, i was at the local music store.... and, this guy and i both nabbed the disc at opening time. we looked at each other and smiled. he said something like i thought i was the only liz phan in iowa. but, there were quite a few folks at the show last April at U of I. ok, this is turning into a book. blessed be wendy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 09:59:24 EST From: Nach1120@aol.com Subject: diverse fans?...yep, that's me! Just asking... ::raising hand:: that would be me. a couple of years ago, i was at the world music theater to see lillith, and then in that same month, back to see oz fest. i would say that i am more into the whole liz-dont want to fuck the world up than the korn im going to kill everyone, but i do enjoy listening to them both. christine ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 10:51:29 -0500 (EST) From: george2@sas.upenn.edu (matt george) Subject: Re: support-system-digest V3 #81 > From: george2@sas.upenn.edu (matt george) > Subject: bob mould is a wrestling writer !!! Oh, when i was talking about bob yesterday, i forgot to mention why i wrote this ! it's just that believe it or not, i read this thing recently that bob mould's current job is being employed by the WCW as a writer (meaning he helps make up the scripts for like monday night nitro and stuff like that...). i found this pretty unbelievable, but apparently it's true...he had a falling out with the WCW and was being wooed by the WWF to write for them, but in the end he stuck with the WCW and got a raise...go figure ? :) and about the guy who asked about diversity, i'd say most of my interests don't stray too far away from her, but i do like the beach boys and dmx a lot...i guess that's diverse... matt ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 11:10:52 -0500 From: jgay@nhpri.org Subject: Bob Mould up until last week Bob Mould was a script writer for World Championsship Wrestling, weird career change huh. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 18:28:53 EST From: BeeFly27@aol.com Subject: all the colors of the musical rainbow hey i love all kinds of music. i listen to alot of chicks though. i love rap (sisqo "thong song" is the best) techno (blade soundtrack is awesome) and some pop (nsync is a rather attractive bunch) and of course rock Garbage, Dave Matthews, Limp Bizkit, whatever. i think that its awesome to be diverse u get all the best of everything kim ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 17:01:09 PST From: "Anja Bircher" Subject: Re: threads... my first exposure to liz phair was surprisingly, a concert an avid music listener, at least for my age, i knew of her and had seen her albums a couple of times, but never listened to her so anyway, last summer, im at lilith fair i hear that liz phair has been added last minute to the line-up so im like, cool, right anyway, so she comes onstage, plays polyester bride, which i thought was cool, and then she starts talking about some religious guy who wrote a column on how the participants in lilith fair are devil worshipers, she follows this up with comment on how maybe he shouldnt be talking, etc. then she plays a song, then apologizes for saying that the guy could be a devil worshiper, then anounces, "ive gotten in a lot of trouble for this song" and plays flower, i stood there, in awe i was completely knocked off my feet, amazing i though my friend mara commented that she must have "issues", but as perverted as ive always been and as prude as shes always been, i thought, i love liz its so cool that a person could just come out and say that i rushed to the cd tent, which was closed, but they let me look anyway, and looked for which of hers had flower on it and as soon as i got home, i ordered guyville from columbia house. i loved it so much, i shared it with some of my friends, who mostly just thought she was weird and couldnt sing, however, i have found a few people who kinda like her and since ive bought wcse and whipsmart and have girlysounds on order and am trying to find juvenilia let me also mention that liz has inspired me to start writing my own music, which is the coolest thing in the world to do i love liz anja ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 23:43:02 -0500 (EST) From: "Emma L. Demastrie" Subject: Anyone like Matthew Sweet? Hi, guys. I am very happy to hear that Ben Lee is opening for BFF at the 9:30 Club on April 19th!!!! I have wanted to see him play live since I first heard "Grandpaw Would" way back in '95. A couple things....First of all, is anyone from the DC area going to the Matthew Sweet concert on Friday? I love him so much!!!! Secondly, did everyone enjoy the Oscars? I was excited about Kevin Spacey, Hilary Swank, who was SOOOO amazing in "Boys Don't Cry", and Michael Caine, who was phenomenal in "Cider House." I really wanted Chloe Sevigny to win Supporting Actress, though. I was disappointed about that. Any comments? Best/worst dressed? My picks are: Best dressed: Ashley Judd. Worst dressed: Matt Stone (South Park creator), who donned Gwyneth Paltrow's pink Oscar gown. Highlight: Robin Williams singing "Blame Canada". Few things kick ass as much as that. It's what's getting me through this hellish week of classes. - -Emma NP: Tori Amos, "Jackie's Strength" Emma Demastrie edemast@gwu.edu ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V3 #82 ***********************************
