She's from New Zealand and her sister, Boh is the lead singer/guitarist in Stellar*. Oh yesterday, I was in this posh department store David Jones and I found EIG in the 30% off section! I couldn't believe it! I thought they would only have WCSE and that that would be unlikely. Anyway I was so excited and I really wanted to buy it even though I already have it so I was wanting for someone to come look at the cds. This girl started looking through them and I showed her EIG and told her it was really good and asked her if she had heard Polyester Bride on JJJ and she hadn't and she didn't get it but her Mum was a bit interested, she said "I'll keep an eye out for her" or something like that. I'm going to try and convince this guy at school to buy it. Earlier I had bought these old RS with Liz in them. I'm mentioning her in an English talk where I'm Adam Horowitz from the Beastie Boys and I'm expanding on what he said about Woodstock with thanks to the lovely anti-Limp Bizkit, Korn etc. article from Spin- Thanks to Andrea who pointed that out for me. Katie, I think a while back you asked me where I got the Liz quotes from the RS book from well the book's advertised in one of these old RS so if you want the details, tell me. That would be so cool. someone help me Yo, yo, Katie, my name's Jennifer and it's good to meet you. I do like the Alkaline Trio a whole, whole lot and I also like the Smoking Popes a whole, whole lot, whose rubble is where they got their current drummer from after da Popes called it quits. As for LIZ wallpaper, the only place I have ever seen any is at Jenny Sayler's website, "Cool, Tall, Vulnerable and Luscious." I believe the address is www.liz-phair.com. Oh, and what is your Trio wallpaper like? Anyway, good luck to ya and ROCK ON w/ The Trio!! :) - -Jennifer ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 05:43:31 -0800 (PST) From: Meow Grrl Subject: divorce song Divorce song thing I have been meaning to mention: I was driving on my New Year's trip from Boston to Virginia (yeah, that's how long I've been meaning to mention it). Divorce Song was on, and I was with my non-liz-listening best friend. Anyway, she's heard Liz enough times simply by virtue of being with me, and I made a comment about the "it's harder to be friends than lovers ..." and I said something like, you gotta admit, that's a great line. And she agreed, and she likened it to her past breakup -- "then you know that the problem is you" -- in her case, him. I figured she didn't really understand the song, cause when they broke up they literally *never saw each other again.* (Well, I think they had one lunch.) There were no elements available to "mix the two." But she explained: HER take on the song was when you are friends and THEN you try to become more than friends. In her case, they were friends for 10 years (since jr. high) before they started dating. So it wasn't lovers -- > friends, it was friends --> lovers. And mixing it was bad, cause he still had the same problems, blah blah blah. Anyway, it was a bit of a jolt to me. An interesting jolt. Who says my way is the liz way? Even though I thought it was pretty clear that they had been a couple and then took this road trip after their breakup of sorts ... I still do think that, in fact ... well, it's pretty cool to get a totally fresh perspective on something you thought had probably been done to death. hell, maybe i'm wrong. wouldn't be the first time. sandra aka meow grrl who pretty much got dumped friday night and thanks jake for making her laugh on a too-early sunday morning when she didn't think she had it in her to even smile. = ) "i've been had well at least that's how it looks and it's not funny like on tv and it's not smart like it is in books." - old 97s __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm still a firm believer that she should cover "Girls" by The Beastie Boys. Also "Cryin'" by Roy Orbison and "This Magic Moment"..isn't that also by Roy Orbison? Ig. Anyway, I was doing some searching and I found that Wesley Willis (the infamous 6 foot 5, 300 pound schitzophrenic) wrote a song about Liz Phair. I laughed really hard when I listened to it. I remember hearing "I whupped Batman's Ass" 3 years ago and fell in love with the guys hilarious lyrics and now he's written about my favourite artist. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard it. Wesley Rocks. Rock over London, Rock on Chicago. hehehehe Salam, Mariam The best and most beautiful things in this world can neither be seen nor touched, but can be felt with the heart. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 19:54:40 GMT From: "mesmer izing" Subject: i'm your hero i do believe you heard 'SWAY' by Bic Runga. This was only the 6th Ed. so it only goes up through 1995 (the next ed. won't be until 2001 i think), but both Exile and Whipsmart didn't have a Top 40 single. Exile I can understand but I thought "Supernova" might've broken the Top 40. Anyway, this got me thinking. Does anyone know if WCSE had a Top 40 single? I know it was #35 once on the Top 100 albums in 98 but did "Polyester Bride" ever break the Top 40? Peace Quang __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
