What song would you like Liz Phair to cover ? I thought "Im a believer" was great. Especially the "...fairytales" part. Well Id like to hear ANY Velvet Underground track, that would be great for me. Sorry its not more specific. Maybe "WhiteLight / WhiteHeat" (1967.) Its not exactly Davy Jones and the Monkees but hey. and for some interaction... >Date: Thu, 24 Feb 2000 08:05:44 -0800 >From: "Dana Polachowski" >Subject: "...but i must have something better to do..." > >...it looks like her feelings change pretty rapidly and she just >does >whatever the hell she wants. so, i'm not surprised either. i >guess i was >more surprised to hear her talk about how she was gonna >really go after a >big music career. she didn't really want one in >the first place. at least >not a typical one. Maybe now Matadors not lookin' so bad. Whatever that means. Theres an awesome label. But a few months back (around November), there was talk on the list about a song titled to our phair lady. During that same period, Built To Spill was mentioned a few times as well. My question: is 1+1=2 and did Built To Spill put out a track titled "Liz Phair"? If not, then who did? And then why was Built To Spill mentioned? The reason I'm asking all this is because back then I didn't know them. I discovered them in the meanwhile and they are becoming something of importance to me. So any other info you might have about them is welcome. See you all soon, The Deranged Pilot Whale "Does Christ never get tired of bleedin'?" I wouldn't recomment it as a good place to start with Harvey though. d. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! I don't know why, I've just always wanted to see that. And, while I'm writing, let me say I am really let down by the fact that Liz's album is delayed (even though I saw it coming) because my birthday is April 10th, and the projected release date was April, so I've been telling my friends, "Hey, Liz's new album is coming out around my birthday." And, now, I have to let go of that dream.... sigh. And when we take out our Liz CDs and listen > to them and discover something new, there's somewhere > to go and discuss it<< I only said what I said about the list dying to get people posting and talking on the list. It looks like it worked! I know the list won't die. I just wanted to add fuel to the fire, that's all. I've been discovering new music just as much as everyone else. Speaking of which, I highly recommend a GREAT new band called 3 Doors Down. I bought their debut album, "The Better Life", a few days ago and it's honestly the best album I've ever bought from a new band. I HIGHLY recommend it. I posted to the "I'm Only Happy When It Rains" site and asked Janet what she knew about Liz's album delay. Here's that she said! >>Hmmm....a "soccer Mom"? That's a good one. However that's not the case. The entertainment business is very unpredictable. When we go to see a "new" movie in the theater, it's already a few years old. After it's made, it has to wait for a release date. Kind of like waiting in line for a car inspection. So......I don't know when Liz's album will be out. I assure you she will never give up her music. I hope that helps to ease the pain.<< Just as I suspected! Liz will release the album when she's good and ready, and we definately have not seen the last of her. Not that I ever had any doubts. :) Craig NP: 3 Doors Down - "The Better Life" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! This list is in no particular order and I can't mention every artist but PJ is certainly up there. Just haven't been listening to her in quite a while. Maybe its about time I blow the dust off of her cds and give them a listen again. On the other hand, I'm still searching for new material - mainly female musicians who are awesome and hidden away from mainstream ears.
