I only started watching it a couple of months ago in my summer holidays but then I was shocked to find one day it wasn't on and I found out there were no more episodes! SOMEONE WROTE:>Biggerd000@aol.com: > >lets keep this list liz related im not a big help to this problem but there have >been many ocasion where i have deleted the support system digest before >even reading it cause i know there wont be any liz content >so i just say fuck it and delete it >anyway im sorry if i rattled any ones cage I'm sorry, I just had to comment on how ridiculous this is. Again, I don't want to rattle anyones um..."cage" but all the same, it's really annoying to get a high and mighty preach-session about how we should all be "responsible list members" and not be off topic from someone who rambled on about nothing during his entire post. Hopefully, you were trying to be sarcastic and set an example of the types of emails all us kids SHOULDN'T write, right? I assume those are the very types of emails you normally skip. Okay, sorry...I got snippy...let me control myself... sorry. Like most on here, I don't give a shit about off topic stuff, nothing can annoy me, info is info...it doesn't bother me at all - I actually LIKE it - but just to respond to this myself (I have thusfar stayed AWAY from the big on/off topic debate) The only thing that ever annoys me about the list is all the bitching about being off topic. If anyone WANTS to keep the list on topic - bring something up yourself!!! it's simple!! Watch: WHAT IS THE SONG "ANIMAL GIRL" ABOUT? Does anyone know if "Johnny" is a real person? She sings about him enough. WHo is SHANE? Is "Shane" about a guy about to go off to the military? or a girl watching her boyfriend sleep knowing he is going to have a rough life once she dumps him? Anyone know? Is HEADACHE about smoking weed? What is the background "Waawaaing" in "Girls Girls Girls.."? Turn this song waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up and you'll hear someone in the background, kinda saying the lyrics off tune as liz says them... I don't understand... i mean, i keep reading digest after digest after digest about NOTHING except "Why don't we have a topic." START ONE!! Even if topics BITE like some of mine above, EVENTUALLy something will click. Until then - I'm discovering Aimee Mann - and I became a MAJOR fan of Sleater-Kinney and Jen Trynin, so the off topic stuff rocks just as much. QUESTION - What is Liz saying in "DON't HAVE TIME" it is in the part just after she says "Wooden and alone...wooden and alone..." then the music and seagull sounds pick up..but you can kinda hear liz's voice like, overlapping...underneath all the music...anyone know what she is saying?? Also - I picked up a really neat little thing..actually..it is REALLy stupid..but it is a liz phair item.. I was browsing this little used record/cd/tape store here and I always check the liz section - and I found the single for JOHNNY FEELGOOD. It had NO cover...no back cover..it was just a jewel case with the fancy "LIZ PHAIR" font on the front and it had the "album version" and the "edit version". Whooppeeee!! but i bought it anyway, just to add to the collection...kinda neat. ANyone know if "Johnny Feelgood" was given a bigger release? (ie-with a cover?) THe only single of Liz's I've ever seen was Supernova - and it was pretty neat...otherwise... nothing until this Johnny Feelgood thing...maybe it was a radio promo thing..oh well. at any rate, dan. %&%&%&%&%%%%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&% "If I ever pay you back, if my money and wallet's in tact, i will probably be in a box laying down, loosely suited in black...." -Liz Phair. *******************************^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2000 10:38:58 PST From: "M.L. I figured it's just a good 'ole Joe Shmo kind of name that could mean anyone. So Johnny is probably a conglomeration of lots of people. It's just like any Bob, Mr. Smith, and the Jones family. Actually, that was all I had to say about anything. I wanted to say what Animal Girl's about, but I don't have it near me right now and can't really study it yet. Maybe later. I haven't been able to read my e-mail for like a month and actually have some comments... forgive me if this shit is dated... Lounge Ax- The rumour is true... this fine establishment/sweaty hellhole is officially no more.. The last two weeks of existence, there was a parade of all-stars playing final shows at their favorite venue. I actually went to the very last show and was treated to a crowd that was psyched like nothing I've ever seen... Lounge Ax is "hotter than Ed Asner's balls in a sauna" when it's crowded, and this night was no different... The line-up was a shitty band called MOTO, then a superb DIANOGAH (featuring two bass players and a drummer, surprisingly engaging math-rock), then a reunion of hometown favorites THE COCTAILS. The coctails played an exhausting two hour plus set, before the show was over and the lights came up and hugs were everywhere... For those of you music fans, the audience was packed with "celebs" including Jon Langford (Mekons), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Doug Mccombs (Tortoise, 11th Dream Day), Bob Weston (Shellac), and a very short-haired, cute looking Jenny Toomey (Tsunami) who gave me an unexpected elbow-titty as she squeezed past me toward the bar... I've seen so many good shows there (JSBX, Sebadoh, Pavement, Jesus Lizard, Polvo, Mule, etc...) that it's a bit sad to see it go. Thankfully, the Empty Bottle seems to be picking up the slack with their booking... Robin Tunney - Liz Phan Robin is a cool actress from Chicago who of course loves her hometown girl Liz... Robin actually has fairly good taste in music (except for the Church, who didn't do anything good after "starfish") and still shows her face here and there (though I haven't run into her in many years...) Elliot Smith / Empty Bottle / 2/26/00 Does anybody have an extra ticket to this show? I can't belive he's playing a place that only holds 250 people? If someone can get me in, I'll be eternally grateful ($$)! That is all.. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2000 22:48:06 -0500 From: Jason Long Subject: Bounced message From: Amazing Love Subject: support-system-digest When did this list die? I to find these manifestos every morning in my inbox and lately it's been the reader's digest version of support system. I didn't read about a month's worth of digests recently. Did I miss a mass unsubscribe movement or something? Of course I myself have no real Liz news to ad. I converted someone recently big time. He fell in love with EIG and listened to Fuck and Run 14 times in a row. I can't say that I've ever had to the urge to do that myself, but that's some nice enthusiasm from a liz newbie. um, i've become curious about Ms. Mann. Just thought I'd forward it because it might be of interest.... My sister used to be engaged to Lizzie's older bro, Philip.   Philip was what you might say a "bad boy" and on the "whitechocolatespaceegg" cd...she discusses what trauma and humilation he caused to the family.  You might want to add something about how Philip and his crazy ways influence her and her choice in career.... Another thing...Lizzie started off her music career only to pay for her bills and to pay for her paintings and drawings.  She attended New Trier high school and was considered "bizarre"...atleast that's what my sister and her friends viewed her... If you wanted any other tid-bits for your Liz Phair site...you can email me...Liz is a very sweet lady...and I am fortunate to have met her and her folks....
