From: "Luu, Jennifer K" Subject: A Hodgepodge! Just a word--Thanks!! I guess it's just the idea of moving into a new set of years (I won't say "New Millenium"...not ever again...*laugh*) that takes me just one set farther from the 80's. Okay, not to sound like a crusty old nostalgia freak or anything, but it's like I saw on a commercial the other day: "Every Memory Has a Soundtrack" Well, mine encompasses a large portion of the 80's that were taken over by the new 90's music (which I love as well--it's when I discovered LIZ for chrissakes, not to mention Tori, Alice In Chains, Beck & The Indigo Girls) Maybe 'cuz for me the early 90's just kinda blew, so I relate the songs of then to that time (I'm thinking of Vanilla Ice, NKOTB, Tiffany, & the like--not the more underground stuff--I think I was really into Adam Ant & country back then). *shrugs* I dunno...hope that makes a bit of sense. But, glad to see your brother let you in on that stuff & you were receptive...my brothers rebelled, one listened only rap, and the other more old country *aka, my Dad's old stuff* and 50's & 60's music. Go figure. And then: From: JLD4125269@aol.com Subject: How many EIG's are there? I don't know how many EIG's there are...but I'm with you on that "Supernova" anxiety! That's too weird. Funny, I was just reading an article about Etheridge & Cypher in the LN (Lesbian News) this past Sunday when I was hangin with one of my very best friends Laura in a Long Beach Lesbo bar shooting pool and drinkin over the weekend. I just hope the kid doesn't expand the way Crosby has over the years. That would be scarey to grow up wondering if you will look like your "dad" at his age. For those of you who told us to check out Barbara Manning way back when, right on! I did and she's amazing. Also have gotten into Sunny Day Real Estate and Cat Power over the last year and think the same. I tend to trust you Liz Phair types since you have to be pretty cool to listen to Liz. Keep those referrals coming. I like finding new artists to listen to. If Einstein didn't write it he most likely would've enjoyed it. Don't be so cranky, its a new year! Not my idea of floating my boat cuz there's too many sci-fi movies set to be released this year. What's so hot about this trend anyways? '00? Oh no! Armageddon never happened! Bummer. On Liz content, there's a movie called Gun Shy with Sandra Bullock coming up. Strange to watch the trailer before Bicentennial Man. (bad bad movie, it sucked) Anyways...whatever happened to JenniferTrynin.com? I saw the addy was up for sale a few days ago. Hmm...
