Hmm...I've never cared much for The Wallflowers, but Michael is simply brilliant. His lyrics are simply wunnerful. Thanks for the info, Mr. Jason...I'll be alllll over it! Meredith wrote: > I was so disappointed when I bought a new copy of Exile to replace the > one I had signed at Just Passin' Thru... Oh God, the memories...my friend frickin' won tickets for me to go to that damn taping that summer, but I didn't get back from vacation with my family in time. Sigh. Well, I DID get back in time to see LIZ at Lilith that night, so I know I should just be thankful and count my blessings...or my blessing, I guess, because even though I was also amongst the ranks of Indigo Girls and Natalie Merchant, LIZ was really the only thing that concerned my little ears..but anyhoo, I knew you were from around Northern Virginia, and it's really cool that you got to go to that taping. I just thought I'd comment on the relevance it bore to my life. Also, Meredith, do you by any chance dig Aimee Mann and Michael Penn? I just thought I'd ask, because I think the fact that they're touring together is like a chance in a lifetime, but they're playing on a Tuesday in NoVA. Needless to say, I would LOOOOVE to go to that show, but it's on a freakin' Tuesday, and in my sad, little, car-less world, alas, I have no damn way to get home and be back in time for mah classes, which I DO hafta brave, b/c I'm lookin' into getting good grades this semester. :) Oh, jeeze, PLUS THEY'RE PLAYING THE BIRCHMERE!!!! which, as I'm sure you figured out, is a place that I consider a very fine venue. So, yes. Sorry everyone had to read that, but hey, if anyone ELSE on the list knows where good ol' James Madison University is located and could somehow get me to the Birchmere to see Aimee Mann and Michael Penn on February 8th, PLEEEEEEASE E-MAIL ME. I am desperate. Funny little thing that >I was...Ah the memories... First, lemme say that was really cute. :) And second, YOU'RE NOT THAT OLD!! In case it may interest you, my bro went to high school during all that fine time too (He was in a little band w/ a few of his pals and sang a Velvet Underground song for a talent show, then won a popularity award of some sort for singing "Baby, Please Come Home" by U2) when I was...oh...about 5 or so, so I was RAISED on some good doses of Psychedelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxise and so on and so forth. I just had to respond b/c I could feel my childhood memories surfacing in my belly. And remember, YOU'RE NOT OLD...ROCK ON, SISTAH!!! :) But that's it for moi....I am working on seeing "Magnolia" ASAP...thanks for you guys that have reviewed it on da list...I have heard that Tom Cruise rocks the screen, but anyway, I hope it's good. Anyway, my point is that another GREAT band, Buffalo Tom covers a song called "Hawaiian Baby" on their "Wiser" single. It turned out to be one of my absolute favorite songs of '98, so I imagine the Spinanes version is pretty damn good. I don't know what Spinanes album that song is on or anything, but I definitely recommend that "Wiser" single, not to mention anything else by Buffalo Tom. Then later, Jason wrote: > I forgot to mention this in my last post, but if you have RealAudio, you can > listen to all of the Spinanes' _Arches and Aisles_ album by visiting > . > > By the way, ignore the review left by "Music Critic" on the page. How many EIG's are there? I have one Liz signed with the two people dancing on it. I also have another copy that is light blue with a fuzzy red/orange cloud on it (kind of in the middle). For Christmas a couple of years ago, I gave a friend of mine the first EIG CD I owned, which had orange and navy blue geometric shapes on it overlapping an orange and navy blue striped background. I've never seen the orgy one you speak of. Were there four? PS-It just kills me to keep hearing "now here's supernova" on TV and then some movie trailer comes on. Everytime I hear it my ears perk up and then I'm disappointed 'cuz I remember that it's not really Liz Phair they're talking about... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 16:52:37 -0800 From: Shelly Subject: News...not of Liz *sigh* Okay...I'm still reeling a bit over the news I heard this morning.
