Seriously, though, my friend does have his birthday on the 26th, and he just turned 21 today, so we took him out to a jazz club and got him trashed. As for my favorite year, it would have to be when I turned 17. It's because of the almost poetic implications it had for me. It was the end of my junior year of high school, and everything in my life changed pretty much from the moment I turned 17. Throughout that whole year my perspective and just my whole self changed. Then, all the changing stopped as soon as I turned 18. My senior year was ending, and I was getting ready for college. What I went through was a lot like the classic hero journey (for those of you who are Joseph Campbell buffs), and every bit of who I am today is because of what I went through after I turned 17. That's about all I have to say about that. Joshua Patrick Kanary, Esquire vist my web page: http://www2.gvsu.edu/~kanaryj "As long as possible live free and uncommitted. However, I am strapped with the holidays right now, and I am just about to (fingers crossed) give my notice to start a new job later this month. I promise I will respond to each and every one of you, as soon as I can. I have no computer of my own at home, and I am going on vacation as of tomorrow, so hang tight. This list has been good to me and I promise to help out everyone I can. sandra _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I was born on the forth of July, 1976. It's not as big of a deal now as it was when I was a kid, but it's still kind of cool. >>Christine asked: "is there one year in your life that you just had the most fun of your life?<< Ah yes, the summer of 1994......I just graduated from high school and my best friend and I spent the entire summer going to every possible concert we could. The highlight was going to the most amazing concert I've ever been to, then or since, when I saw Stone Temple Pilots for the first time. As Liz would say, it was a total "mind fuck". That is definately a time in my life that I will never forget. This year was just as good to me, if not better. I mean I got to see two amazing Liz concerts AND I got to meet Liz twice. Plus, I got to meet alot of cool people from this very list. I will always look back fondly on this entire year. I know what you're thinking....She's so old!!! Well, let me tell you, I will always listen to cool music including Liz Phair. So will my kids! Having a holiday b-day has its ups & downs. I always feel a little sad though 'cuz everybody is celebrating.. but NOT my birthday!! On the other hand, July 4th is a pretty cool holiday, sun, beach & fireworks & all (Plus great music) so that's the good part of my birthday. And when people check my license, you get to see how observant people are re: the date. ......Best years: College at B.U. Andrea aweiss4338@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Dec 1999 20:51:12 -0800 (PST) From: jake Subject: liz phair, a rant I finally finished reading "the last rock star book or: liz phair, a rant" and it turned out it wasn't too bad. the story seemed jumbled at first, but things start falling into place and it comes together finally. the best parts of the book, though, are when the author/narrator (camden joy) analyzes eig. he has a few good theories, my favorite probably being when he suggests rearranging the order of the songs so that it follows a relationship. it reminded me of when that was discussed on the list concerning ws. I know someone else on the list has read this book. what did you think of it? it made me wonder sometimes how much was made up and how much is true. to anyone contemplating watching "the talented mr. ripley," I warn you that 5 golden globe nominations does not a great movie make. the acting was fine, but it really was a disappointing storyline. I felt like I was watching a movie that was supposed to be shocking...in the 50s. jake __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! First off, who else has read "the Last rock star book, or Liz Phair: a rant" by camden joy? It's awesome. like, it's really really good. it's one of the best books i've read in a long time. it made me come out of my little shell and post to the board. it's not like "miss elizabeth clark phair was born on...," it's a novel. and it's so good. really. you should read it. Second, about the title hurricane cindy...my girlfriend says she remembers the first episode of "three's company" that cindy was on, and she made all these mistakes and broke a lot of things, so jack started calling her "hurricane cindy"...coincidence? subconscious memory by liz? intentional? hmmm...I can't decide. what do you think? It's pretty obscure... tim ------------------------------ End of support-system-digest V2 #379 ************************************
