I was wondering if anyone has any early recordings from this band. They release three or four cassettes on the Olympia Washingtion punk rock label "K". Any info would be very helpful. In the Alternative Press w/ No Doubt on cover, there's a really neat picture of Liz and a small article about her new record. She explains what some of the songs are about. You might already have known about this, but I figured I'd reiterate. M a r k __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. Release Date: Spring 2000, on capitol What can we expect: After overcoming the stage fright she suffered early in her career, Liz Phair found herself inspired to perform on 1998's Lillith Fair tour. Phair estimates she did 175 dates in support of her last album, whitechocolatespaceegg, and it forever changed the way she approaches music. "What interested me was learning to be comfortable on stage, and just learning the dynamic of a setlist," explains Phair. "I worked on the new material while I was on tour, and I've been very interested in demonstrating that new side of my artistry, because I was a really sucky performer before." Backed by her touring band, Phair is currently recording without a producer, and plans to continue that way until she's done putting down the album's basic tracks. "Some of it is just classic me," she admits. " 'Bouncer's Conversation' is a conversation between two bouncer, and all the crude things they say about women. And then there's new-wave stuff, like "Love/Hate Transmission," which is really Who-esque. It's about masterbating when I was young. My last album was so stylistically diverse because I write like that: I write country-western songs, little punk numbers and these weird introspective, breathy numbers. I think a lot of bands home in on one style that their bandmates think is cool. But I'm a lone songwriter, so in my room, I get to be whoever I want to be." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. Hello peoplez. Well at every chance I get here in college, I do projects related to Liz, cuz she rocks, of course, plus I know stuff about her. Plus I'm trying to expose people to her. Anyway, I"m doing this oral presentation, and there are a couple things I need to know, and a response asap would be really helpful. Esp. if you might email teh responses to me, not the list, that way I dn't have to wait til 1:25-1:30 AM tomorrow to get them. First of all, I haven't brought my jewel cases to college in three years, and I forget what the inside cover under the cd looks like on Exile. What is it a picture of? Is that the one where it's like pavement or something? If anyone has a scan of it even on their website, would you email me the url? This is tres important. But even just answering me and telling me what it looks like will be helpful. 2nd question: Well okay... this presentation is about "the city." W hat I'm doing is presenting the parallels between "Exile" and the city. No ideas for that, please, I'm doing it on my own. The reason I mention the subject is because I was wondering what a "Galaxie 500 video" is like... does it have anything to do with a city or something? I don't need to get more specific about what I mean by "city" because whatever your interpretation is, that's fine. So do Galaxie 500 videos have anything that reminds you of the city in them is the question. #3) Is Bridgette Bardot in any way related to the city? I've never seen any of her movies, and only silhouette type pictures of her, so I don't know nothin' about her. Did she star in films that were in any way related to "the city?" Lastly... Oh nevermind. I found the answer to that question. Not the Bridgette Bardot one, but the one I was going to ask but now am not. :) So please, any answers are greatly appreciated. And if i get too many, don't be insulted if I dont' reply and thank you... I'll be working on my damned presentation. I'm awful at oral presentations. It's not my best oral talent. NOwhere near it. Tee hee. And yes, I realize this post is incoherent. I'm back to that incoherent self. Was I ever coherent? Prolly not. Well this is why oral presentations don't work for me... I can't speak very... sensically? I read a July issue of Rolling Stone on the plane today (yeah, I'm still that far behind on them), and there was Miz Phair. Yay! Chicago's favorite son. Well thats' what she was in there for. Is she a man? I always thought she was a woman, but it would explain why she's like almost the only "female" artist I listen to. Cuz she's a man, baby! Yee haw. Oh... MEREDITH... would you email me and tell me what form of payment I would need to send should I want to purchase that zine you were talkinga bout? And if you do that, could you forward me the address again. I'd personally email you, but I don't know your email addy anymore now that you're like... all in college and stuff. Thanks.
