Subject: OUCH! Wow! I survived the week from hell. I'm not going to get into how much work I had, but I'll just say I didn't even have time to read SS. Okay Just out of curiosity I'm at Rob's Janet Rains site, and I have to say, not as a personal attack, but to see if other people feel this way... Rob, do you really think Janet's voice "stole the show" from Liz? I don't. But anyway, that's what you said in your guestbook. Does anyone else think that, tho? Hell, I'm the one who fucking insulted her on my site o-so-long ago (and that's how I happened to end up meeting her... and actually how I got snuck into the 11/30/98 show at Avalon in Boston)... I just like Liz's voice better. No offense to Janet. I still think Janet can sing and all, but I'm in teh Liz camp. And well... I'll probably regret sayin this, but I never did think that Janet's voice went well with Liz's. I know it sounds mean. But two people can both have good voices but not sound good together, and that's the case here. Have to remember to check out that Phairly speaking thing... should send a dollar now. Does it have to be a check, or can you send cash? can you send pennies? How 'bout pennies from heaven? I should be workin' on the ol' site later this weekend... hasn't been worked on in a while. have to add some news and whathaveyou. Umm... quoi d'autre? oh! A dream for yaz... I had a dream that there was like 50 different CK postcards with Liz... they were all in pinkish tones, tho. They were way cool tho,a nd free. Then I woke up. Bedtime... Later, Nicole P.S. for all interested parties, the job is goin' well. Love the babies and toddlers. They're so fabulous. Diapers... haven't quite got the hang of 'em yet. Also got to see Mary Lou Lord a few days ago. She was opening for the Handsome Family and she was great. I might have to go and buy some of her records now. She did a great version of Matt Keating's "that kind of girl" and Richard Thompson's song about the vincent motorcycle (never can remember the title). Also... Maria McKee, the finest female singer in the world. Patti Smith, a godess Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star Oh yeah, i got KathrYn Williams name wrong the other day. She's still great, whatever way you spell it. Nanci Griffith deserves a mention "and i wonder how i've come to know so much less than i knew before" ... Joseph Lee Henry. I'm originally from Milwaukee, WI and last night was one of my friends and I's many (and I do mean many) trips to Chicago. We went down there for ECW wrestling, and had an amazing time. Afterwards, we stopped into a convenience store somewhere near Wrigley Field sometime around midnight. I have no clue what street it was. We go into the store, get what we need, and go stand on the street corner to wait for the bus. All of a sudden I look up and what do I see? Liz!!!! Ok, Liz on a billboard. It was the Liz Calvin Clein jeans billboard. I just about fell over when I saw it because I haden't even noticed it before we went into the store. Unfortunately I had used up all of the film in my camera from the wrestling so I could take a picture of it. It was just so cool to Liz on that billboard, especially in Chicago. I wonder how many people walk past that billboard and say to themselves "Liz Phair? Who the hell is that?". Oh well. I thought it was cool to see. I couldn't imagine it would be HUGE - but - I would LOVE to go check her out on a little solo-tour..she does have an amazing voice, and I got to speak with her briefly at the Grand Rapids Liz show, I was blown away by how incredibly nice and easy to talk to she was..ya, and she had the kick-ass glitter eye make-up on too :) But..just curious..anyone know if she is touring at all? or was it just a local thing? is there a website on her? I dunno why the hell I'm making this pointless post, but it's Liz related in some way. Well, maybe not..I donated blood yesterday for the sixth time and the lady who was drawing my blood was all cheerful that it was waay scary at one point. So, while I'm lying down, about to freak out, she looks at me and says cheerfully, "You're doing great! You're a good bleeder!" Uhhh...ohk...if I hadn't kept my cool, I probably would have started singing "Blood Keeper." Damn...love/hate it when I associate life situations to a Liz song. I still see that association of the Blair Witch-Divorce Song thing someone mentioned during the summer. Thanks to Emily for the Janet Rains review!
