I'm glad I took Exile out of its usual context. I mean I usually listen to it just in my >room or whatever. The other day I listened to it in the daytime on a walk >on random, and it was great, but the nighttime thing was very cool too. I >recommend it. I recommend taking your CDs out of their usual context. and also listening to it on a different stereo than your usual one - you might hear something you've never noticed before. Exile is one album where I keep noticing new sounds everytime I listen. >Yeah, well I doubt she's still around. Here is my only problem: Liz seems >fairly computer illiterate. Nicole wrote: "... and there was a road sign for... Crater Lake! I guess it's in Oregon or something. Cuz they were talking about some murder case that took place in Oregon and they showed the sign that said "Crater Lake". I never knew Crater Lake was real..." Yeppers...Crater Lake is a real place! It's in Southern Oregon, and is a great vacationing spot here. Waterskiing, fishing, swimming, camping & such. Had a good friend in high school that was a camp counselor at a summer camp down there (it's a good 4 1/2 hour drive from my house). Crater Lake has a pretty cool history, in fact. It's the site of the Mount Mazama Volcano that erupted thousands of years ago (with the last eruption about 800-900 years ago). Crater Lake Caldera was formed from the eruption. Here's a tiny quote from the USGS website on volcanos in the Cascade Range (Mountain range that runs from Washington State, thru Oregon, to Northern California): "Largest known eruption from Cascade Range volcano. Catastrophic, caldera-forming eruption 7,000 years ago; post-caldera lava and domes 2 ... From a probable altitude of roughly 12,000 feet, the top of former Mount Mazama was lost to eruption and collapse that left the present huge crater and the deepest lake (1,932 feet) in North America. Explosive eruptions built Wizard Island and two other cones (submerged) on present crater floor." It's actually a really interesting place, supposedly ash from that initial explosion was found clear across the U.S., heavy into even were Texas is, and as far away as in modern day Russia One a funny side-note, my parents stopped by Crater Lake on their way home from Honeymooning in Southern California. They took a row boat out to go fishing, my dad hooked the proverbial "Big One", causing him to hook himself oh-so-gracefully in the ass with a fishook! In the ruckus, this caused my father's wallet to fall out of his pocket & sink to the bottom of Crater Lake. Not to mention he had to go & get a couple stitches in his butt. *hee hee hee* Okay...so there ya go from the department of "Too Much Information". *grins* ~gunshy~ Shelly (can you tell I studied alot of Geology in college? *laughing*) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Nov 1999 19:24:08 EST From: TADude9999@aol.com Subject: PERSPECTIVE Hey all As the holidays approach I seem to get all melancholy thinking about how fortunate my life has been and how little strife I've seen, personally. I would appreciate it if you all could promise to get a can of food and put it in your car and put it where donations are being collected. It's such an easy thing to do,however I think we all take it for granted because it's so easy. Collectively we can make a difference. I thought the following was mind boggling, although some of you may have seen this before. It's a perspective puter inner! If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following. There would be: 57 Asians 21 Europeans 14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south 8 Africans 52 would be female 48 would be male 70 would be non-white 30 would be white 70 would be non-Christian 30 would be Christian 89 would be heterosexual 11 would be homosexual 6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States 80 would live in substandard housing 70 would be unable to read 50 would suffer from malnutrition 1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth 1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education 1 would own a computer When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for both acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent." The reason why I ask is I was chatting with some street team member for PJ Olsson earlier today and the guy said his name's Luke. I thought this was strange in some way cuz of the name for starters, plus I know PJ's signed under Columbia. I also know the Columbia people often check on us to see if we're doing our job of handing out the samplers they send us, which is what this Luke was doing by chatting with me. We couldn't chat any longer since he was getting busy, but mentioned he used to manage four bands in Boulder, Colorado before moving to LA. Coincidence or no?
