That song by The Toadies, "you'll stay as beautiful, with dark hair and soft skin, forever..." cant seem to remember the damn name. i just love that song- and i dont even know the name either- another verse is "and i promise you, i will treat you well, my sweet angel, so help me jesus..." what the hell is the name to that one???? its such a random song. On another note- since i seem to be putting in my 2 cents pretty frequently these days, and i did have about 5 beers tonight, i just have to say, that the movie "American Beauty" is absolutely brilliant and one of the best movies I've seen ever. Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening and Thora Birch and everyone else in the cast deliver award winning performances. it was that good. see it everyone... the last thing- people were talking about tom green- that funny guy from the tom green show on mtv (i love the song for that show, its really funny) anyway, some guys stopped my friends and i on the street last night in manhattan at like 3 am and told us they work for the tom green show and they wanted to ask us some things- we didnt believe them- they said the cameras were across the street. what a terrible pickup line!!! we blew them off i have no liz related news. oh yeah- someone is making me cd's of all rare liz stuff and i cant remember who cause its been so long- and i dont have my old emails cause i'm on a new computer- whomever it is- please email me...its ok that its taking long, i just have a question... i am dying to hear love/hate transmission since i havent, i would love a copy of a show with it on it if anyone wants to trade for the few shows i have. please email me. Wait.......here's a tasty morsel.......welll, not really.....I was taking notes in u.s. hist the other day and when I was supposed to write an abbrev for the french and indian war (f and i), I wrote f and r, w/out even thinking about it. whoah, liz reflex. Also.......is anyone seeing bis tomorrow night? Ah!!!! I'm psyched out of my skin. My desire is bitching me out of my mind......I have to do sooooooo much crap today so I'll be able to go tomorrow .......but, e-mail me if you're going.....mayhaps we can meet up. Fun! 16+, but I know they're gonna check me anyway. I think I'll be wearing a red tank and these groovy plaid, like golf-pant bells.......wheeeeeeeee......colorfun! I'm pretty sure it's called "Possum Kingdom". Almost positive. I've never heard any of their other stuff but that song kicks so much ass. Hi everyone I'm new to the list. Uh, my name's liz, i'm from boston, i love Liz Phair, i like to play the cello, i like cheeze and big black knee high boots. Rubber chickens are fun to. I've never seen Liz in concert before damnit because everytime she comes to boston the shows are 18+ and i am very young. Well, my latin homework awaits me. goodbye, liz ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Sep 1999 13:23:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Amber Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #285 > From: "Jaime" this music for sex and > driving thing... well i think > i'll throw in some songs that are good for both: > > 7. They named the song after Possom Kingdom Lake in Texas, PK lake for short. Rubberneck by the Toadies is excellent for driving. i also agree with the people who mentioned Portishead and PJ harvey (Rid of Me the album) for sex songs. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I had to comment though i think uncle alverez is one of the best songs on whitechocolate, girls room is just freakin cool.. i have it stuck in my head for ever after i hear it. i didn't really like soap star joe at first but now i do. there aren't really any liz songs i "hate", just ones I never really got into. as for my favorite songs, startford-on-guy has to be my all time favorite. also divorce song, mesmerizing, #3 on whip smart (i never know the names of songs :) and what makes you happy. jenny > songs of liz's i hate (attempt for new thread) -- > i only seem to hate liz songs for short periods of time though, > they usually grow on me sooner or later... except these... > > girls room > uncle alverez > ride (heard it too many tiimes) > soap star joe > rocket boy... Now this is an interesting thread. Trying to break a rule or something? ;) Anyhoo...I didn't care much for Girls' Room either till I heard the Lounge Ax version. My list? More of songs I particularly don't care for. Shatter - depends on my mood. Like it when I'm really pissed off though. Gunshy Shane Nashville Fantasize Uncle Alvarez would be on this list as well, but I think it's a good song lyrically. Depends on my mood again. Stratford-on-Guy is one song I'm still trying to figure out what's so great about it. Well...guess I could say I really shove Liz's music down people's throats cuz I got a call from a friend whom I hadn't seen since graduation. He called to let me know he heard WCSE on radio here in Orlando and automatically thought of me. I've been hearing rave reviews for 'To Venus' from Miz Amos, and being on my generally expansionist acquisition policy towards music, I figured it'd be about time to check into her, 'cause I've heard of Tori Amos since the 'Y Kant' days, but generally passed her over for other things. Anyways, to the point: I was browsing the local Wal-Mart Supercenter (yea yea, just shoot me...) while looking for Carly Simon's "Clouds in my Coffee" box set, which I'm trying to get out of paying fifty-plus dollars for at Wherehouse Music. After being disappointed, due to their massive amounts of a very few albums, I decided to leave. Passing by the singles rack, I stopped and stuck my nose in, and found two things, both of which made it home with me: Tori Amos' "Bliss", from the new release, and the Garth Brooks-as-Chris Gaines single "Lost in You". After listening to 'Bliss', I figured it wasn't too bad, creepy, but decent. And now, for the questions: Given what some of you folks know about my musical tastes, is this new double a good purchase to make? Is it representative of her particular style, or is it a shot in a new direction? I'm trusting you, folks; you've yet to steer me wrong so far. ^_^ Thanks, Michael On an interesting side note, REM has stepped in on behalf of my local alt-rock radio station in their legal battles. Great; Michael Stipe plays a benefit concert. Muahaha. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Sep 1999 20:45:35 PDT From: "Jenny St. Onge" Subject: Re: OAC: Tori Amos & Her New Album <> This isn't an attack, but Garth Brooks-as-Chris Gaines?
