It sounds like she's doing the same kind of thing for "Love/Hate" - I bet that the chorus is electronically altered in the recorded version, as well as the "aria." Excellent point jeff. I'm sure there are any number of sonic bells and whistles that will be added in the studio that just are not possible to re-invent live. Paul wrote: It's on the very beginning of it's journey to album-dom. What we have here is a demo. Hopefully that transfer will go as well as the transition of "Headache" from wcse. The album cut is a significant improvement on the demos that appeared on the shelved demos and studio recordings. Headache went from a song i was not terribly impressed with at all to one of my favorite songs on the finished album. Robert Joyner __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It was so incredible at Lilith!!! It was > the perfect way to end her set and she really got into it. My opinion on Love/Hate Transmission.....it reminds me of SEVERAL other songs...... 'Mandinka' by Sinead O'Connor..... the 'Love/Hate Transmission.....' part reminds me of the 'Mandinka...." part. Also, the basic melody of the verse reminds me of something I cannot put my proverbial finger on...... Maybe the band is imitating some production value on a recording of the song.... the "love-love hate-hate trans-trans- miss-miss ion-ion" part may be an effect they are trying to improvise. Also, the twinkling keyboard part seems to have a 'Whip-smart" quality.... (the song, not the album) The first time I listened I said, "Liz, what have you done?" The second time, I said, "Absolutely Brilliant." (first and foremost) AC/DC - 'shook me all night long'!!! Oh, come on now... AC/DC put out some real shit, but that is an excellent sex/drive song... 2. Liz Phair (insert any song name here) 3. Hole - 'teenage whore' or anything from _Pretty On The Inside_ 4. Any Steely Dan 5. Any Pink Floyd 6. Any Tom Petty 7. That song by The Toadies, "you'll stay as beautiful, with dark hair and soft skin, forever..." cant seem to remember the damn name. ok, now ill listen to love/hate and report: the intro reminds me of...6'1" (anyone else?) but then it sorta pulls out of it... i like the chirpy keyboard, although i wish it was more quiet than her voice... i love the echo-voice... "ove-love-hate-hate-trans-mis-son!" i really think this song has something. its sort of 80's/euro - pop. very catchy though... but im not sure id like hearing it as much as Pearl Jams version of 'last kiss'... didnt they kill that song? why dont radio stations understand, people want to hear more than just the top five ?? I usually hate the top five... (mainly because they're overplayed) Liz seems to really like love/hate... 'if you guys wanna get up and dance with me, go right ahead' and i like it too... could be a good single... hey thanks mark... excellent mp3 idea! you know what song i relaly do not like, mainly because its filler shit...
