Love/Hate Transmission is now available for download at http://musicmark.webjump.com because Tim was cool enough to trade it to me even though my recording was crap. Have a listen, and become an informed participant in the "It sucks! Does NOT! Does TOO!" debate. Also, I have chosen an end date for the Liz Phair poetry contest. See the web site. And now, for those opinions of mine, sure to inflame and incense: Tom Green is an obnoxious ass. PepsiCo looks like a bunch of idiots for actually centering a marketing campaign on him. And maybe I like Canada a little better, now that I know there's no Tom Green there. Baseball sucks. It's boring. It was America's pastime long ago; it isn't anymore. And this is from a guy who, before the strike, was following his team around the COUNTRY to see different ballparks. For those of you who don't believe that football is superior to baseball, I offer this simple, incontrovertible mathematical proof. Follow along... GIVEN: 1 pro season = 162 baseball games per team AND: 1 pro season = 16 football games per team IT FOLLOWS THAT: 162 baseball games = 16 football games OR 1 football game = 10 baseball games - ---Mark (http://musicmark.webjump.com) ps I'm firmly on the fence about Love/Hate Transmission. I think it has potential, but that chirpy keyboard part has got to go. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Sep 1999 08:53:27 -0400 From: Ascending to the Stars Subject: liz, kristin, and music for sex... okay... first off, whoever said they were listening to the town hall, nyc show, who said they were x songs away from dont' apologize/firewalking... i'm assuming you mean that those were put on the end of the tape, cause they sure as hell weren't played at that show 4 years ago... recently there has been much talk (well, a coupl posts) about kristin hersh, probably one of my fav singers. i got into throwing muses once i got into the radio station here (plug to follow), and ran into kristin's solo work shortly thereafter. i have seen her twice-- once in may of '98 at the brattle theater in cambridge, in support of "strange angels" and once about a month ago at the knitting factory in the city. both shows were simply breathtaking. she is so wonderful. at the cambridge show, he daughter lost her tooth backstage, and brought it out for all of us to see. i will say, i was a little disappointed she didn't play more off her new album "sky motel", but i guess it makes sense- this album is much more throwing muses-like-- a lot harder for a lot of songs, which just wouldnt' carry very well in a solo show. but it was still amazing.. although somewhat tainted, as some list members have already heard... anyways, thanks to whoever posted that she has more east coast dates. i may try and catch the providence show, or go home for the weekend for the show(s) at maxwells. anyone else who has the opportunity, i say definately go! oh, and music to which to have sex... i'd like to throw my vote in for portishead, particularly "roads", from _dummy_. aimee mann's "red vines" is the perfect car song... i only played that in my car for like the first 3 weeks i had the cd... off to class.. thank god i'm not taking my neurobio test now... (:ruthie:) ps-- who went to the cmj conference? who saw madder rose? etc, tell me about it!!! - -- *******Deceive*******Inveigle*******Obfuscate******* "Wild and unwise, I wanna be mesmerizing, too" "So I hope you all will see, there just isn't a place here for me" --Liz Phair "With you here with me I could be happy ... Actually, just about anything Bowie'll do the trick. There's something about him & his music that brings out the, er, performer in me... "Keep your 'lectric eye on me, babe... Put your raygun to my head... The first car song that always comes into mind is Roadhouse Blues by The Doors. "Keep your eyes on the road and the hands on the wheel...." Others: Drive My Car - The Beatles (cheezy I know! but oh well) Believe - Cher Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones (scary song I think, always makes me think of the movie Casino.) American Girl - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) - The Doors Hey Bulldog - The Beatles. Well, I'd rather say the whole entire original Yellow Submarine soundtrack makes a great car album. Great songs and instrumentals. Uhh..I know I had more. Oh well, I use some of these songs to keep my mother and I awake during a drive home after a concert. The two albums that always keeps us awake are Cher's Believe and the Stones' Let It Bleed. M.L. But will say that it's *cough cough cough* Hope I didn't give out any clues or something. :) *yawn* It's only 5:30pm and I want to go to bed but it's not dark out. *shrug* Oh well...good thought to know I only have three more blood donors before hitting the big one gallon! woo hoo! I know it's immature - but THANK YOU whoever asked it. I love fun questions Hmmmm.. Definetely "BAD HAIR DAY" by Weird Al Yankovich. Perfect sex album. kiddin! No, really I'd have to go with Tricky "Maxinquaye", I agree with whoever said LUSCIOUS JACKSON's "Fever in Fever out", Weezer's self titled album is a great make-out album..Natalie Merchant's "TigerLily" believe it or not - and if someone is feeling really slutty - pop in Foxy Brown's Chyna Doll. Anything by Deep Forest, Portishead, Sinead O'Connor's "LION AND THE COBRA" and I *THINK* Skunk Anansie's "PARANOID AND SUNBURNED" would KICK ASS! Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique - and maybe even HELLO NASTY - but only if it's summer, you're drunk and it's REALLY REALLY hot with no airconditioning. "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" is quite mood setting too..and Morcheeba - any album by them. I could go on all day!! But..I'm not a slut. God - okay, i feel really immature now - but threads like that I just can't resist. apologetically yours, Dan.
