Ginz ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Sep 1999 02:30:50 -0400 (EDT) From: "Nicole W." Subject: pissants I was watching my tape of some various snippets of Liz P. and Pearl Jam footage, and one of my clips is from Liz's wcse-era appearance on Letterman. My tape fucks up when Dave is introducing Liz, and I don't remember what exactly he said in the broadcast, but the tape starts working and Dave says "People seem to like her alot" or something. The tone he uses seems to indicate he has never listened to Liz and doesn't really *understand* why all these people seem to like her alot. It annoys me. If Dave Letterman is going to have bad taste in music or a closed mind, then he shouldn't be the one to introduce the musical guests. It's like a slap in the face to Liz the way he segueways into her performance. Ugh. So then I have an MTV News 1515 segment from the Chicago Lilith Fair of '98, and that's cool with me but for Serena Altschul's intro to the segment, I can't remember what she said but I was already sensitive from Mr. Letterman's comment, so I was just lookin for people wanting to start fights, ya know? Okay but then there's Liz's performance on Leno, when he is like "her latest albums is 'whitechocolatespaceegg'" and makes this face that says "i don't know what the fuck is up with that name!" and that's just ... yo, Liz don't need all the late night hosts crampin her style. I also have the vid for Poly Bride on the tape, and I was thinking while watching it: is there someone who watches like all old tv/educational film-type/b-movie footage and catalogs it according to content? So that if someone wants to make a video and they need, say, a woman cracking an ostrich egg or something, you can call up and ask for all the basement footage they know of with that theme? I've wondered this before when seeing random old footage used in various ways. It's got to be fucking... obscure shit, ya know? So it's not like most people would know where to find weird scenes that aren't from popular shows. Hmm. Anyone know? And if this is a job, how can i get it? This is Nicole, signing off. (r.e.m. flashbacks like someone else was having the other day) Later. P.S. Wow, I saw a newish movie that had Kevin Bacon and that annoying-as-all-fuck Illeana Douglas (hope she's not on SS) chick in it, and actually liked it. Hey not that anyone else would know this, but weren't they both in that one movie a couple years ago with Jennifer Aniston? I saw it for some strange reason. Why DID I see that movie? But anyway, yeah I liked Stir of Echoes better than Sixth Sense. The kid was much cuter. :) And even though he sees dead people, he doesn't whisper about it. "i see dead people." Oy. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! BBA! While we were cleaning today, someone decided it was a good idea to play an entire Abba cd a couple times, and now I have "Dancing Queen" in my head. I don't like Abba. * * * * * * * * * * * * "Perfect is a fault, and fault lines change." -R.E.M. Hello all! I've decided to come out of lurking to say a few things. . . First of all, I know this is from awhile ago, but does anyone have the set list of Liz's songs from the Deer Creek, Indy Lilith Fair? Please email me if you do- I would greatly appreciate it!! :) Secondly, all this talk about the Dixie Chicks has made me want to share my impression of them. I heard them perform at the Deer Creek Lilith Fair, and I was AMAZED! They were truly wonderful performers: funny, talented, and just plain great! My friend (hi Emily!) burned me a copy of "Wide Open Spaces," and I love it! Can't get enough. I really need to get their new cd, because I loved the songs they played off of it at the concert. The 'Earl' song kicks ass! My last thing to share is that I LOVE "Uncle Alvarez!" Someone recently posted that they didn't like it, but it is one of my favorites! It really speaks to me! :) That's all folks, Julie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Sep 1999 17:26:45 -0700 (PDT) From: Kelly Scofield Subject: moe. YEAH!!!!
