What gives? Why didn't you post sooner? Please tell us more about what you did! At the time, I was kinda miffed 'cause all these people who wrote me that they were interested in coming to the Chicago Phest bailed at the last minute. Except for Lucas, who drove all the way from Texas. So that's why I did not post about it. I don't think Lucas subscribes to this list anymore, so he wasn't doing any posting.... I pretty much told you all the Liz related stuff we did. We went to her parents house, we drove by New Trier and we tried to go to Brad Woods studio but it was turned into a Coconuts. We tried to look up Brad's name and Liz's husband's name to possibly drive by their houses, but neither of them are listed. Lucas made me a tape of Pharities, which I like alot. Lucas and I also did fun non Liz related stuff like going to see Diane Izzo play at Starbuck's and at Double Door (well, she is Brad Wood produced, so she is sort of Liz related) and we saw Eyes Wide Shut (neither of us liked it), and we went to a cemetery near Chicago that is supposed to be haunted by the ghost of a young girl. (did not see anything ghost-like). So, that was the Chicago Liz Phest Weekend, which actually stretched into a week 'cause Lucas stayed to play his guitar on various streetcorners. Maybe we can have a better turnout next year, and the people who know where Liz lives in the city can tell me if I promise not to bother her. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 03:07:07 EDT From: Catinosboy@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #272 OK, I've crawled outta my hole to list my bands: 1. Steely Dan (pure jazzy pop perfection) 2. The Beatles (anybody who doesn't have an album needs to- especially Revolver) 3. AC/DC (what TRUE rock n roll is all about- no makeup and no ballads) 4. Ride (I love when shoegazing is done well) 5. Orbital (the first and best "techno-electronica-dance" band I ever heard) 6. Sugar (what great, loud pop would -be artists should look up to) 7. XTC (what great, left-of-center pop bands should aspire to) 8. Helmet (heavy as hell- fuck Lorn and Limp Bizkit- they wished they were like Helmet) 9. Allman Bros. (front porch, beer-drinking hellacious Southern vibes) 10. Did I mention Steely Dan?? Brent, who wants some of these live shows, IF they sound good. I have mucho access to quick CD burners at work and LOVE to use them for live shows! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 14:14:36 EDT From: Emerald314@aol.com Subject: Liz billboard I've been kind of skimming the digests of late, so hopefully someone didn't already mention this, but I think it is worth repeating if they did anyway. There is a HUGE billboard of Liz's Calvin Klein ad in NYC on the corner of Broadway and Houston Street (I think that's where it is). It actually covers an entire side of a building. It just went up a few days ago...previously it was Foxy Brown, but I am so excited that it is now LIZ! :) I know there was another Liz CK billboard that you see when you're just entering the city, but this one is even bigger and better. Everytime I saw something Liz related this summer (the cK ad, top albums lists in spin, RS) I wanted to run to a computer, but alas, I was in Vermont and had no electricity, let alone a computer.
