So me, being the Beatle freak that I am, will be walking across it 30 yrs to the minute with this tour. Its only 5 pounds, and besides the walk, the guy takes you to 3 Saville Row, the studio where the Beatles recorded Hey Jude; The London Paladium; The club where Paul met Linda; and many others. Whoevers in London should come! You can pay on August 8th, at St. Johns Wood Underground Station; just get there before 11 am. Theres other parts of the tour but its like 30 pounds. Old Liz Hi this is my 1st time posting, but I've been reading along about the new v. old Liz for a few days. I only found out about Liz around Jan. when I just randomly went and bought EGG with a gift certificate I had. (I had never heard any of the songs or anything; I just bought it.) Anyways, I really really loved EGG I listened to it like everyday for three months or something. Then, I got a bunch of MP3s of her other songs. When I realized I liked em too, I went out and bought EIG and then Whipsmart (like 2 weeks ago). Now, I like EIG the best. EGG is a good album but the middle of it doesn't mesh well with the other songs. Here's my theory: the transition from Baby Got Going to Uncle Alvarez just doesn't work. You've just gone from Poly Bride/Love is Nothing/Baby Got Going (all really upbeat and more light sounding) to the heavier Uncle Alvarez/Only Son/Go on Ahead and the transition doesn't work so well. Like on Whip the transition in the middle is done really well from the upbeat songs that after Chopsticks to the slower stuff by the song that has all the talking at the end. (Sorry I don't have the album in front of me and can't think of the names...) I think if EGG had been laid out differently it might've been my fav. Why is the song Nashville named Nashville on Whipsmart? Just wondering... Liz _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? So, no, it had nothing to do with you, and I did put a ";)" after it, meaning I was kind of kidding. It is something that I have to wonder about, though. We've had a lot of cases on the list of things people have written being misinterpreted, and given that, I do have to wonder when people send things to the list they have written while drinking, since most people aren't entirely clear when they've been doing so. It just seems like asking for trouble. If you can post while drinking and still be coherent then that's cool -- I don't have any problems with that. My only problem is if someone writes something that someone else takes offense to, and they use the fact that they've been drinking as an excuse. I believe that we all should have to take full responsibility for what we write, and using that as an excuse after the fact or even in their original post as a reason for not making sense or being entirely clear seems kind of lame. Thank you, everyone who e-mailed me privately with music suggestions and words of encouragement re: my breakup. Funny how people you've never met seem to care more than people you've known in person for years... Hey DarkSide oftheMoon, thanks for asking about me. I hope by now you've gotten my private e-mail. Sounds like things are better for you -- hooray! Well, guess what? Here's how I got my mind off relationship crap this past weekend: I surprised even myself by going to WOODSTOCK '99, on the spur of the moment! I really wasn't planning to... but it was only 90 minutes away, and a good friend was working Peace Patrol, so I thought, "How can I NOT go?" Did anyone else on the list go? I was there from 6:30 pm Saturday through this morning (got up at 5:30 am today, drove home, showered and went to work! Ugh, I'm tired.) It was a kick listening to Howard Stern talk about Woodstock on my ride home this morning. And dig this: I got in FREE, ate for FREE -- spent less than $20 the whole time, aside from buying some batiks and tie-dyes! I'm so proud of myself! It was so easy, I have to laugh at the comments of the Director of Security Operations on woodstock.com. To look at me, you'd never think I was so criminal. (Hey Spaceeggy Katie: "I am the gatecrasher... I am the freeloader.") If I was gutsy enough to talk/walk my way into Woodstock for free, anyone could do it. (OK, I'm lucky too, since my friend worked Peace Patrol -- that's how I ate for free, and camped in a MUCH nicer area than regular attendees.) My legs have never been so tired -- I did so much walking, I thought I was going to be crippled for life -- but I'm so glad I went. It was a real HAUL between the East & West stages, so it was hard to get to see all that I wanted to. And my friend was on duty, so he couldn't take off and just watch the performers all day. But I did catch: Alanis Morrisette -- missed most of her set, as I was trying to get inside the grounds, but I've seen her live before; she puts on a good show, and didn't disappoint here either -- sorry all you Alanis-haters! Mickey Hart & Planet Drum -- highlight of the weekend! They were absolutely, phenomenally GREAT!!! (If anyone was at the West Stage right after this set, that was *me* who had the MC announce "JARED, CINDY IS HERE!" -- followed by the kiss, raunchy talk about hand jobs, etc. My 60 seconds of fame.) The Chemical Brothers -- mmm, their music is DEAD SEXY...! Willie Nelson -- a nice change of pace, even though I generally don't like country Jewel -- she was good, but as my friend said, "she's not mainstage material." Thankfully, she did some newer, rocking songs. I kept thinking, "That could/should be LIZ up there!" a little bit of Mike Ness, from a distance -- sounded good, but we were too far away to really enjoy it Red Hot Chili Peppers -- they were hot, even before the real smoke! Contrary to the media reports, they played "Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire" AFTER the fires had started. The Jimi Hendrix tribute immediately following was pretty lame; we had heard rumors all day that tons of special guests (including the Stones, Clapton, etc.) were going to show up for it - -- no one did. We didn't participate in the riots and looting that followed; we went back to our tent and were blissfully unaware of how bad it got. I don't want to forget the (en)chanting Tibetan monks -- we napped in their "sacred" tent, in a very relaxing, mellow atmosphere -- but passed on their offer to bless any items purchased from their merchandise table. I guess even monks gotta make a buck. I'd love to hear anyone else's Woodstock stories too. Please post! Now I'll stop. Hurricane Cindy NP: emergency vehicle sirens, still ringing in my ears P.S. I like to think of myself as somewhat of a hippie, but reality says the 90's are NOT the 60's... the 90's are all about shooting your teacher, rioting, murder, suicide, crime, money, gangs, guns, drugs, etc, etc, etc... Of course there will be riots and fires and violence. We are not our parents, we were raised by them. We are a more daring, reckless, violent generation. Marylin Manson cannot be blamed for woodstock 99 (or can he?) neither can guns... matches and glass bottles will be the next issues to bring to congress. If you take the matches away, the bottles and the guns... you still have children and young adults of the 90's -- who can still kill with their bare hands. The peace and love are floating around in flashbacks... not in the 90's and I doubt they will return for the millenium party. I'd rather read listers' reviews of past shows to get me excited about Liz ... which I did today, before leaving work. Has anyone ever done that? I went to past digests to look something up and found myself just reading and reading ... anyway, the second bit of Liz news I have is how she's quoted in Details this month. (yes, I am a chick, and yes, I subscribe to a men's magazine. It's not bad, though the writing doesn't impress me as much as it used to.) So there's this article about how to "Turn Her on Without Touching Her" or something, and Liz is quoted as answering the question: "What's the best words a man can say?" or something like that (unfortunately I am quoting from memory b/c my Details is conspicuously missing and my creepy subletting roommate--not the antagonizing one; I love him--is conspicuously holed up in his room. hmmmm. not quite worth knocking on his door.) So Liz's answer is, I think: "Whatever you want, honey" or something like that. Shit, I can't really remember, but check out Details if you want to see it. The one with the teenage prostitute from Eyes Wide Shut on the cover. And the teaser for Blair Witch--though it has NOTHING about the movie at all. oh, and one more thing ... WCSE was also listed in said article as one of the top 10 albums women chose to get them in the mood or something like that. Guys, if you're reading Details, that gift article? about the perfect gift(s) to give your girlfriend? Read it. Act on it. Your girlfriend will fucking worship you. (He still hasn't called. Rats.) - -sandra NP: Night Fever on some silly-assed commercial. Plus the hum of my dishwasher. No, not hum. I remember reading that that shoot was hellish for Liz and made her reconsider her sexy thang image, and that the photographer was a complete asshole. Well, I FINALLY got to see the pony pic, which seems to be the same photo shoot as the "Sprite bottle." Granted, just a minor thing, but that photo was a turning point for Liz... - -Jeff D. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 00:26:25 EDT From: Jonefelgd@aol.com Subject: Liz on VH1 Did anyone notice that during the VH1 profile tonight, they showed the infamous photo of Liz with the miniskirt and pony?
