You can't. It's so neat to see so many other morissey fans on the list. You really don't connect the two artists, but something's going on here. This may be old news, but I checked in at the capitol website and it says a full international tour is planned for the fall. Other stuff I forgot about for a month: After the NYC benefit about a month ago I talked to Janet a little because she was over getting a drink and she called me a "Lizbian!" .. her term for obsessed liz phans. I just thought it was funny and had to share it. Ginz: Called that guy. He never answers the phone so after a few tries in the past weeks I got up the courage to leave a message. He hasn't gotten back to me yet. Mike: Do you read? I bet you just did it to shut me up. - ---melissa ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 05:10:59 EDT From: Biggerd000@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #201 have you seen liz lately and what is with rumor about her posing nude for some magazine why are these huligtans telling me this some one let me in on the laugh oh and by the way have you heard prince lately my god prince rules i was listenin to purple rain and that album has nothin but great songs like.... take me with you, baby im a star,,,amongst the rest of the songs on that sound track any way im a mess and goodnight dan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 05:14:05 EDT From: Biggerd000@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #201 i think Michael Carapella has george and paul confused cause paul sings ive gotta a feelin a feelin deep inside oh yeah not george sorry but had to reply dan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 05:17:12 EDT From: Biggerd000@aol.com Subject: Re: support-system-digest V2 #201 [Unable to display image]> ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Jul 1999 09:37:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Craig King Subject: PJ Harvey and why? To any PJ Harvey fans: I was listening to my 120 Minutes Live CD and she has a really cool song on there called "C'mon Billy" I was just wondering which album this is off of? Great song! Spaceeggy Katie and I were having this discussion the other day. We were just saying that it's just a shame how there have been so many talented musicians that have died throughout the years as a result of drugs or otherwise. As the 28th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death passed by (July 3) I was thinking of just how many people are on that list. Here's what I came up with: Jum Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Buddy Holly, Shannon Hoon, Elvis, Hilel Slovac (original RHCP guitarist), Cliff Burton (original Metallica bassist), John Bonham, Sid Vicious, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Van Zandt. Is there anyone I'm missing? I know there is. Feel free to add to this list. It's just a shame that these great musicians died way to young. The music world is worse off as a result of their deaths. Nevertheless, it is my favorite tune on Let It Be. How about Liz doing a cover of something totally uncharacteristic of her style... say a Hank Williams tune? I mean, if the Cowboy Junkies can record "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," (getting tingles up my spine thinking about it), why not Liz? Anyway, that's that. I could have sworn someone wrote a couple days ago or so about Liz being in the new Elle. Was it Elle? Was new meaning June, July or August issue? Can you tell me which page? I'm poring through June and July and haven't seen either. Maybe I just got the whole thing wrong. Sorry for the brain freeze, but I hope someone leads me the right way. paige= _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? They were there when I read and wrote the post, so somewhere along the line they disappeared. What I responded to that Bob said was that he saw The Queen Is Dead tour, too. That's cool. Someone else said they held Morrissey's hand, I said was is warm and sweaty? That's also kewl. Anyway, I hope the following quotes which I am commenting on do not get erased.... here goes....... <> I was wondering that too. Any thoughts? Anyone like/heard of Maggie Estep? I think Liz fans would, cos she's kinda got the same type of vocabulary. She's more of a spoken word/female comic, not as much of a singer, but very entertaining. You should check out one of her albums, it'll make you laugh. I'd suggest "No More Mister Nice Girl" or "Love is A Dog From Hell" I think she did a Lollapalooza stint a few years back. Also there's a women named Deirdre Flint who has an album out (just recently released on Fadia Records out of Philly) called the Shuffleboard Queens- really funny, kinda like Maggie, except cleaner, perhaps the girls could relate to Deirdre more just cos some of the songs like "boob fairy" are about girl issues, But EVERYONE will surely get a kick out of her and Maggie. For sure! <<.i love that nobody can sing just the lyrics of a smiths/morrisey song without imitating his disticntive voice. you don't just hum a few bars or mumble the words, 'cause it's kinda fun to exaggerate the accent.>> That's soo true! It is fun! <> Tad is cool. He has hooked me up with tons of info, input and helped soo much in planning my trip to Hawaii, actually it is thanks to him that I will be staying in a super cool place! Cheers Tad, you ARE the man! <> So true! WE're famous, interntationally! I bought an exercise bike years ago and on it, it said DP, which I thought was cool, cos it was like a personalized, monogrammed bike. <> I'm jealous. That is sooo cool, When I saw him after Your Arsenal, he didn't do any Smiths toons. Does anyone watch "General Hospital"? I don't know if I mentioned this before or not...(burnt).. but there is a new character called Chloe Morgan who looks like liz ala WCSE era... What do ya think? I have, I saw her after hearing "The Stupid Jerk I'm Obsessed With" - which is kick-ass and very Liz in nature a la spoken word. I have a great poster of the event that hung for a long time right below my EIG poster! Now they're separated. She's also got a book out, also funny. Any thoughts? I think that it may have towed the line just enough to keep from getting a label. At the risk of being controversial, I'll even say that the fact that she was female probably helped too. To get an advisory label, you usually have to say the "F" word a lot...probably about 30 times to get a label without anything else being explicit. Usually, the label comes from explicit sex, violence, or drugs coupled with overuse of the "F" word. There was plenty of the "F" word on EIG, and "Flower" may have just barely been clean enough to keep the label off. If you put "Chopsticks" on EIG, it probably would have received a label. I think had a male group put a song like "Flower" on the same album, it may have been construed slightly differently. I also think that record companies are given a choice of labeling in some cases...which may have been the case here.
