Even though they say it's "Total Request," it really isn't cuz the show is programmed already. Sooo...the idiots at MTV are guessing what it is that we want.....all of those frickin' teeny boppers videos, BSB and N'Sync. That was roger Williams, who I believe never had sex with an animal...maybe not even a person. When I am at work , I sit in a little cubby by myself at the computer all day and just sing the same lines quietly, but I think the girl on the other side of me can hear me, "Rocket BOy, rocket boyyyyyy"!!!!!!! What a great way to start a new job, talking to myself and singing liz songs everyday! I was listening to the "Secretly Timid"'s version of "Flower" last nite and remembered what song part of it reminds me of: "Somehere Over the Rainbow" - and now that i think of it, part of "Chopsticks" has that da-da da-da da-da da-da part too. Does anyone have any clue of what I am talking about? You know the talking part in "Flower"....(everytime i see your face...) also, what is the song that "can't get out of what i'm into " is from or sounds like , I have been trying to put my finger on it for a while now and Am stumped. Why did I get Saturday's Digest so early today? Cos of Father's Day? I haven't seen the movie. I'm thirsty. K I'm back but I realize it's later than I thought, so I gotta jet. Oh well. On a seperate note, it seems my relentless posting has been quite outdone as of late by persons such as Dana P (I don't know which one), Jaime, and Mr E. I'm sure they weren't the ones that went to the record company and said, "Hey, we can kind of dance a little but we can't sing so how about you give us a record deal but like have other people sing for us in the studio and then we'll just lip sink on tour." >>>>> I agree with these points completely, there are lots of slime balls in the music bis, who see pretty boys/girls that they can use to market an image and just tag music onto(BSB, THE NEW KIDS, IN SYNC, etc.) that's all for the milli content cos I wanted to talk about liz anyway. I really agreed w/a lot of Jason's points on Liz and the whole exposure thing, but i just want to say... I am happy with liz at her current status of popularity. I like having her all to myself, in most cases. I DON''T want to hear LIZ on Top-40 radio back to back w/Brandy, Will Smith, BSB, and Shania. I Don't want to hear an elevator-instrumental version of "Flower" in the dentist's office. Call me crazy! I don't want to go back to my high school(like that would ever happen) and go to the weight room , and see all the jock football players blaring and getting pumped to "6'1"( whatever happened to a boyfriend, the kind of guy who makes love cos he's in it!!) or "Dance of the Seven Veils", ugh, Puhleeeeassssee!!!! Although maybe that would be kind of funny, especially if they sang the high parts to "Dance of 7 veils" and called themselves cunts!!! And if WE get stumped by the words, imagine what they would think!! That , too, would be amusing. Now I am not trying to offend any football players on the list that may be liz phans but..just to preface the jock comments, you guys don't know what the high school jocks are like around here, they think it is acceptable to sleep w/drunk girls who are passed out, i know that 's a generalization, but it actually happened and not just once! Has anyone listened to "Don't Have Time" and heard any similarities to Pavement in this song? I have been listening to it and have frequently thought how much this song reminds me of Pavement, I think it is all the changes in tempos. Cheers to our fellow lister, Hyphen, who is getting married this Friday and is playing Liz at her wedding!!!! And not only is she playing Liz, she is playing Divorce Song!! BTW, the song you are refering to is actually called "Girls". Personally I'd like to see her cover "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" doing a kinda Debbie Harry-"Rapture" style rap on the song. Another song I'd love to see Liz cover is "Call Me" by Blondie. I think that song would fit perfectly with Liz. Craig "AdRock" _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hey, glad to be wrong on this one. As I wrote, I just started following her career a couple of weeks ago and I hadn't "seen any evidence." Thanks to you and Jason in V2 #178 for filling in the blanks. The few web sites I had checked tour dates on just showed the end of her college tour with a few East Coast dates. I was very excited to hear she was doing Lilith Fair, only to be disappointed when I discovered that she was only playing three dates--all within a stones throw of her house! (OK, I'm exaggerating a little). Relentless might not be the right word--there are plenty of acts logging 200+ gigs per year on the road, but I know that's not, and probably shouldn't be, Liz. And you're right, if you count in all the non-gig promo stuff she did, she was quite busy! >I think what we should do is get the whole list to go to mtv online and >vote for liz's video polyester bride for the show total request live >over and over. this way we can not only see her beautiful video, but we >could open more people up to her music and her. Ugh! When I read this my heart just sank. What a critical mistake! You are completely right. I recently got into a band called Ednaswap (horrible name, great band--now defunct. Best known for penning the Natalie Imbruglia hit, "Torn"). After seeing them open for Better than Ezra, I went out and bought the latest CD. If it wasn't available then, I almost surely would have forgotten about it. Thank you very much for the thorough and well-written overview, especially the sales figure.
