Re: "Phairplay" Justin C.- Justin I tried to e-mail you directly and kept getting some sort of error so I'm writing the list in hopes of connecting with you. Totally interested in the "Phairplay" c.d. you have. Pretty surprised that you would actually want to trade it but I would love to make a deal-at very least trade a dub for a dub. I've got the Girlysounds, Fuck and Run, Clean As A Whistle, Phairities & 2 videotapes (one of t.v. interviews and performances, the other of concerts). If any of this interests you please get in touch. Listening to the radio on saturday (GLR in London) and they played Glory by LIz followed by Glory by Television and the two went very nicely together, just as Liz ended the Twang of Verlaine's guitar (or is it the other guy) kicked in. Lloyd Cole did a fine version of Glory (TV one) many years back before i'd heard the original. If Liz were to cover a TV song then maybe "See No Evil", just imagine her sneering "What i want, i want NOW". It might even be as good as R.E.M.'s version. I don't think he has failed a test yet. So at this point I think the cleansing drinks are your best option, along with a day or two of abstinence just before your test. Also, drink lots and lots of water before your test and take lots of vitamin B. I don't think the vitamin B does much except give your urine a healthy looking color. But as most of us know, perception is half the battle (i.e. reference the long debate we have had on this list regarding the importance of musicians having a good look). And when you write down the other medications you are taking, make sure to mention some over the counter stuff like tylenol and ibuprofen. Some of these are known to be confused with other drugs and can put some uncerntainty around the results of your test if it does not come out as you wish. <> An ex-girlfriend of mine worked in marketing and promotions while we were in college. She has since taken that experience to land multiple jobs in commercial radio, so I say go for it. College radio is the best experience anyone could have when trying to break into the industry. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Everybody Loves Me (But You) -- Juliana Hatfield (incidentally, my very nice friend Eric gave me an autographed set list of hers that he had. I have no idea why. He's a whole lot nicer than I am!) 2. Divorce Song 3. Song for You--the Beautiful South 4. Plants and Rags--PJ Harvey 5. I've Been Tired--the Pixies (that's the name of the song, right? i just had a dub of it) 6. Elsewhere--Sarah McLachlan 7. Wargasm--L7 (that was a high school favorite...it was so much fun to scream that one out my friend's sunroof) 8. Let Yourself Get Down--Luscious Jackson 9. Don't Touch My Bikini--Halo Benders and last but not least: 10. Take Your Love and Shove It (Up Your Big Fat Ass) -- Joe Pesci (just kidding...i can't think of a tenth one right now) actually, i'd love to hear liz cover "take your love and shove it." so....what's everyone else's spin on this? alice ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 10:43:41 -0700 From: vjohns@acad.com Subject: Re: Song called Liz Phair" by Weston Has anyone heard of a song called" Liz Phair" by a band called Weston? She looks soooooo talll!!!!! I though her leg went on forever! so I had this thought today while driving.....the grateful dead..... they shoot that theory to shit.. y'know the one about wearing clean clothes, being good-looking and whatever else to be successful in the music industry..I am not trying to reignite this debate or start mudslinging but, they were the HIGHEST GROSSING ACT when they were touring , they were extremely popular, successful and probably did not even shower before lots of shows, definietley didn't always wear clean clothes and were not poster boys in the conventional sense.....just some food for thought... speaking of poster boys i saw my sister's YM a few moths ago and it had this thing on new boy groups and i thought it was a joke or just a photo layout, but they were real, not good looking and just totally manufactured...these were the up and coming poster boys....boy am i glad i am past that embarassing phase....I used to get embarassed cos i had pics of ricky schroeder(he';ll always be ricky to me , not rick) and kirk cameron on my walls, but that was eons ago.!!! one more thing...i heard there was a fictional story, (short story) in Seventeen mag. on Built to Spill recently, y'know a hip teen wrote a story and the band they characters went to see was Built to Spill.....so what the FUCK was Doug thinking wearing a dirty shirt on national TV when all those young 17 readers who have now been exposed to Built to Spill got to see him for the first time on Conan wearing a dirty shirt!!! and the beautiful Brett netson from Caustic Resin looking like Robert Smith w/ Green hair and dreads!!!!...............Actually I talked to Brett 2 days b4 the Conan appearance and he had the word"pixie" written on the neck of his guitar and i asked him if he was a pixies fan.. and he said it was his wife's name and he worte that and his kids names on the body of the guitar for when he went on Conan so his family would see their names, or rather they would know he was thinking of them.........awwww, sigh.... what a guy!!!! and he looks really fucking beautiful when he plays guitar, he makes the cutest faces.!!!!!! ow can you make fun of such a swell guy? Tomorrow or later i want to write a post about Looper... i have some things to say ... but it's fri nite and i think i need to go out and my bfriend is gonna be mad cos i was suppposed to call him w/plans awhile ago but instead i've been doing this post.... so long... dddddddddpppppppppp................................haHahAhaHAHAhahahahahhaha!! !!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 21:12:15 EDT From: Danaldj@aol.com Subject: i fucked up!!!!
