First off I'll say, there has been a big response to my t-shirt idea. That's great, because I really dont mind doing it, it doesnt take long and besides that I enjoy making things. I dont really have hours of free time, but I have time to make like one per day or so. I wanna get stoned. Let me go check the archives... jackpot... hey i have an idea... Someone out there should invent a pill or something that you take and then it absorbs the evidence of drug use in your system so that you can take a drug test to pass. Now, I know they have that fast-flush and those drinks that are supposed to cleanse your system... but they dont always work-- trust me, I have failed tests before... Ah, fuck that... I never want a boss who has never done drugs before. I like bosses who look at you and smile, "I've been there before... enjoy it while your young!" -- They coolest boss I had was in a bunch of motorcycle gangs... Bikers are fucking nuts. Wow... am I rambling??? Yep... Okay, so I want a new job, cause I hate telemarketing. There is a small radio station in my town and I want to apply up there, I loved doing radio in college. My question is-- would they hire me with such little experience? I mean, anyone can do college radio, it isnt hard... So would that be enough ? I just dont know anyone in the business who I could ask. I am isolated. I'm sure I'll apply and find out, but maybe if someone on the list is in radio or if someone has an opinion... I have written about it 100 times (well, twice now I think) Who's big brown eye is under the white plastic cd holder in the wcse cd ? It isnt Liz's eye-- unless she wears contacts I dont know about-- And this makes me think of a cool thread... Discussing rare liz secrets or embarassing moments, things alot of people dont know. Katie Brown must have some--- didnt your sister know Liz when they were younger-- surely she must have some fun stories... I must admit that the Julia Roberts thing made me think of this too... Okay-- The news is on a they just fucked up and put the camera on the wrong person-- She started mouthing "Wrong camera!" Till they fixed it. I love noticing shit like that. This feels like a Nicole Post-- very "stream of consciousness"... Yuck I'm gonna go brush my teeth. ~Jaime* - -<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>- "I only get high about twice a day, It helps to keep my blues away..." --Bran Van 3000 -<<>>- "Downer Surrealism." - --Frank Zappa, on Steely Dan -<<>>- "I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed" --SmashMouth - -<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jun 1999 05:06:27 -0700 (PDT) From: Mike Connolly Subject: Sidebar, your honor... > From: "Nicole W." >(Wendy & Lisa were quite a excellent addition) > Aren't Wendy and Lisa the chicks who used to be with > Prince? What are htey doing with Sheryl Crow? Yes, they were part of Prince's Revolution, were featured performers in _Purple Rain_, and did a few solo releases under the name Wendy & Lisa after Prince rearranged his band's line-up. They've recently changed there sound, and now record and tour under the name Girl Inc. (or something very similar.) I haven't heard it, but a friend of mine who has good pop music taste is quite impressed with their new sound. > If that's not the name of hte chicks who > were with Princ,e what ARE their names? And didn't > one of them become really religious? So why is she > back in that devil's music (rock n'roll)? The really religious one is Vanity, former protege of the Purple One and the original lead singer of the trio known as Vanity 6, which became Apollonia 6 (Apollonia was in _Purple Rain_.) Wendy's last name is Melvoin. Her brother was the guy who OD'd a few years back in that highly publicized incident with the Smashing Pumpkin's ex-drummer in Chicago (at least I think it was in Chicago.) And as for the unintended thread to Tori, Alanis, ad nauseum, I did mention _Y Kant Tori Read_. It was a heavy metal/glam rock-ish release she and a band that was put together by the record company. She always hated the setup, and took the opportunity to dump that lineup and look when the album sold 17 copies worldwide. She then demanded, and received, complete control over the next album, and spent a couple years working on it. Alanis, on the other hand, at least IN MY OPINION, is and always has been a manufactured pop artifact, way back to the days of "You Can't Do That On Television." She became a Pop Diva when it was popular, but didn't do so well, then switched to Angry Young Woman just as it was fashionable to be one. She's a good performer, but more importantly, she's has an uncanny sense of timing. I just don't think she'll be able to stay successful when the country's music tastes switch away from her current theme. But then again, who knows. Label-mate Madonna has been re-inventing herself with nearly every release, so maybe I'm wrong. Sure as hell wouldn't be the first time. NP: "Go On Ahead" on Imagine Radio. Did you know that back in 1993 I met Alannis? It's true! I had quite a nice chat with her. At the time she was the reigning disco-queen of Canada (Paula Abdul of the North)..and was amazingly childhood friends with one of my very good friends. This friend of mine, dragged me to a "video release party" at the cheeziest bar in town (the Blue Cactus in frozed Ottawa, Ontario). They showed the video (which featured a pre-Friends Matthew Perry as her boyfriend) and afterwards there was much crappy music. At one point in the evening, my dear friend Deanna brought me over to have a chat with Alannis. She was quite amiable and we talked about nothing very memorable...my lasting impressions of the encounter were: - Alannis is very skinny - Alannis looks a little bit like Anthony Kiedis in the correct light - Alannis is very short - Alannis smiles easily and is fairly goofy and fun (we both smiled when the 55 year old deep-in-the-closet local newscaster walked by with his new 18 year old male "intern") Ken ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jun 1999 17:38:10 -0700 (PDT) From: kf martin Subject: it isnt a problem as long as theres more hello... new to the list, been lurking, first post, new to liz and all that...ive read a dozen messages like the one i need to write since i subscribed so ive been reluctant to burden you good listies with yet another, but its my story too and i can wait no longer...ive consumed all of the commercially available liz discs; im addicted and now find myself rabid for some demos, girliesounds, live boots, videos (pathetic...ive never even viewed one), and etc. i do have a cd writer and a modest collection to trade from...i have very nearly Everything matthew sweet and some other stuff i imagine *somebody* may be interested in... so if anyone is interesest in trading? pls write and ill send my list. thank you. and as a show of my goodwill and restraint, ill fail to add my comments about ani, tori, alanis, britney, et al. kurt obligatory NP ref: josephine wiggs experience...with the presence that only vinyl can provide. s'not liz but kinda uh...on the groovy side. damn, wish i were listening to some girliesounds right now... _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
