How did *you* feel when you were 16? What if you had to be held responsible for everything you said and did back then? Hello, *I* was a complete *fake* in high school--because I had no idea who I was or what I wanted, and I cared far more about pleasing others than pleasing myself (which is what Alanis did professionally, pretty much). Ten years later I can say this. It's called growth, which is pretty much why we're here on this damn planet, IMHO. Also IMHO, You Oughta Know is an *anthem*. Adored it since the first moment I heard it. Yeah, it's annoying that she's so freaking popular, and I'm pretty much done with being a big fan of hers, but I still respect her. She's written a couple of huge duds (Ironic comes to mind) but also a couple of real winners, in my opinion, on Jagged Little Pill--like Not the Doctor (xcept the chorus) and All I Really Want. > > Helium sucks live????? Let me clarify for everyone. These are not concert t-shirts. I making them myself. Last summer I took a plain white t-shirt and painted the quote: "Fire up the batmobile, "cause I've got to get out of here..." --Liz Phair So this summer I decided it would be fun and nice to make t-shirts for anyone who wanted one. You can have any quote you want, and the shirt come out nice -- and they are washable too. They are under $10. I'm not making profit of this-- if I do, it probably wouldn't be more than pennies. I figured low. I am also taking trades-- such as taped shows, rare songs etc. So if you would like one, email me,( jaime227@exploremaine.com ) and I'll email you a letter with sizes, cost and my address, then you can just mail me either the money or a trade, and then I'll make your shirt and mail it for you. Okay? I hope this clears up everything and answers questions for people. If it doesnt email me or catch me on AOL IM --- I'm "gunshygirl" -- I'll try to answer questions for you. *liz content-- So did anyone ever figure out who's eye is on the wcse cd behind the white plastic ??? ~Jaime* - -<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>- "I only get high about twice a day, It helps to keep my blues away..." --Bran Van 3000 -<<>>- "Downer Surrealism." - --Frank Zap, on Steely Dan "I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed" --SmashMouth - -<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>-<<>>- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 1999 15:51:02 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Schulz Subject: Actual Liz stuff Well, I know that people will be disappointed that there's nothing in this e-mail about Built to Spill, Jewel, Alanis Morrisette or Tori Amos, but I thought I'd send it anyway. You commented on Alanis by stating that she was similar in the popular arena to the Back Street Boys. Obviously, musically this is not the case. However, quite interestingly, you stated that Tori Amos didn't have a musical change like Alanis. Check out Why Tori Kant Read. You'll find out that she definitely went for a more pop/hard rock sound before she became the Tori that we all know today. " - Machinery Hall ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jun 1999 23:40:19 EDT From: DaisyFoo14@aol.com Subject: Will someone please adopt me? Hey guys, I just found out some groovy info........Liz will be performing at some benefit in NYC on June 10 for an org called Sanctuary for Families. The tix cost $100 before, $120 at the door, and include dinner, open bar, dancing, and LIZ!!!!!!!!!! I convinced my parents to let me go, and my friend can go, and my dad called for info (confirmation of Liz so I could give you guys accurate info, how dressy, etc.) but since it's an open bar, I can't go w/out a parent. Well, that night is my parents' anniversary, so "there's no way in hell" they can go w/ me, and my friend's parents won't go. So, I know there are a bunch of wonderful NY ppl out there over 21 who would be willing to go and act as my surrogate parent for the night to make sure I don't go lush at the bar w/ my friend Rachel (not that we would............). We'll be good, we promise, so no need to worry about liability crap. I MUST go to this, it'll be my sophomore "graduation" gift since my parents are drawing blanks for gift ideas and b/c this means so much to me, and my dad can't think of anyone else to go and I don't know anyone of age who looks remotely like me. (For some reason, the college jrs and srs my brother knows aren't white! Like, I understand why, but......you know what I mean!) Anyway, I'm usually more articulate in my posts (ok....so I don't really post and being articulate is a fantasy), but I'm exhausted and really antsy. SO, if you would be willing to meet me and my friend in front of the place (the Altman building.......I don't have the addy right here) and pretend to be my mother, father, aunt, uncle, WHATEVER and you can prove you're over 21, I will love you forever. Plus you'll be seeing Liz! What better deal can you get than that? Liz, two annoying (ummmmm.......of course we're not irritating) 16 year olds, 1 who's never heard Liz (Rachel), a damn open bar that causes trouble........great! (Well, I guess SOME of you appreciate the bar....I hate that thing! It's keeping me from going until one of you kind souls reaches out to sponsor a child...me!) Anyway, it should be tres groovy and it would make my year or even lifetime to meet Liz.........please help make my wish come true! You know you want to! E-mail me offlist to volunteer to be my mommy or something, k? Gracias!!!!! Anyone else, e-mail me anyway so I can boost my confidence and also so mayhaps we can all meet at this thing! (Granted I get a new parent.........) I brought you this info......so love me! Adopt me! No diaper-changing involved! Guaranteed! - --Alli, who's reallyreallyreallyreally tired and worried about some crappy presentations tomorrow and upset she may not see Liz............so just take her into your family.
