My friend was watching a Cubs game on TV a few days ago and he said that it has been reported that Liz will be singing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at one of the Chicago Cubs home games this season! For those who don't know, it was a tradition for legendary cubs announcer Harry Carey to sing the song at EVERY home game during the 7th inning stretch. Well, since his death last year the Cubs organization has gotten celebrities and musicians to sing the song in honor or Harry Carey at all of the Cubs home games. A date has not been announced yet but it appears that Liz is on the list to sing the song at a future Cubs home game! I couldn't stop listening to them, especially the 1997 version of wcse. I couldn't help but feeling more and more disappointed with the actual release of wcse. I really loved the earlier mixes of all the songs. Plus Bars of the Bed and Bloodkeeper. and the newer mixes of the Shelved Demos tracks. Heavenly. Sure, I like Johnny Feelgood, and I love Go On Ahead and the new version of Money, but I was just disappointed. Especially when I heard the 1997 version of What Makes YOu Happy. The 1997 versions were a lot less radio friendly, more gritty, and a lot more fun. But that's just one chickie's opinion. - -TIff "...I'm searching almost every day blind And I'm walking through my past Like a madman hoping to find A good list of reasons to know that I'm special To know that I'm different To know that I'm better Sometimes a dream is what makes you a slave." -Liz Phair "All you ever wanted was someone to take care of you. Your best bet on this is to pick up a copy of Goldmine or a record price guide, learn how the grading works, and then compare what you have to what is listed. Don't be too disappointed if the albums you've picked up for 1 - 5 dollars are worth... 1 - 5 dollars. Every now and then you'll find a good deal. But most of the valuable Beatles and Lennon discs are already in the hands of collectors. And "good" quality is really not that great when it comes to these items. But keep looking! > Last weekend I watched John Lennon's 'IMAGINE' It > was so great. I cried at the end when they showed > all his fans holding candles after his death. When that happened, I was in a cave in West Virginia with my some classmates. We took ten minutes out that Sunday afternoon, lit about a half dozen candles, and took ten minutes out of the exploring. Still remember it like it happened, well, yesterday. === Mikey C Va Beach ...without a decent thing to add to my sig for awhile... _____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? He even did color photo copies of all the artwork. http://members.aol.com/cv765/Craigspage.html For posters, check out this address: http://www.phil-a-arts.com/ I understand if some of you disagree with the idea of paying someone to do CDRs. Please don't give any of these guys any shit for what they're doing. I don't mind paying. I think they're providing a valuable service at reasonable rates and I appreciate what they're doing. Is there anyone else out there with opinions of the Bliss and Fetish Girlysound discs? I am hoping they are good quality. I was under the impression that the B&F discs are the best I can hope to get. This is a quote from the Mesmerizing discography about the B&F Girlysound discs: "This and disk 2 are the best sounding source for the Girlysound tapes to date. That is, unless you are the two lucky fellas who Liz made copies from the original tapes." If the B&F discs aren't the best quality source for Girlysound material, then what is? Also stated on the list regarding Girlysounds: >Anyways, at the time, no one else had come forward to make these CDs >(burners >were fairly rare and pricey at the time)... he had asked on the list >repeatedly >for a decent copy of Girlysounds (his copy was pretty poor to start with).. > but >again, no one came forward... and so on. I've been working on just such a project for a while, calling it Phairities 99. I'm waiting on "Conversation," which will make the last track I want to have to finish it. Choosing the songs has been a series of compromises, though. I aimed for "all the Liz songs not on a commercial release or on Girlysounds." So I included all the soundtrack songs and B-sides. I only put on one version of "Carnivore," due to space limitations. And I had to cut "Desperado," on the basis of it being an instrumental. And I'm STILL not sure I'll have room for "Conversation." It's still a work in progress, and I'm not sure exactly how to trade it once it's done either. Giving away the soundtrack songs, when you CAN go buy them readily, is on the edge of my ethical comfort zone. And some of the songs come from Ken Lee's 2-CD set, and I don't want to short-circuit his distribution It may be that I'll make up a different "Phairities 99.2" where I drop the soundtrack songs, making room for "Desperado," "Divorce Song (w/ Emotional Rescue)" "Carnivore (raw)," and "Whip-Smart (remix)" So email me if you want to discuss it, but please, NOT to demand that I trade you a copy. I was thinking about her CK thing and I really think its wonderful. Yes, CK does seem to favor Younger-looking models, but it really is art. The models chosen for CK are not your average "hurricane-cindy" type model. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) I mean who ever could have imagined the success of Kate Moss? *another love of mine* Liz is a waif girl. And that isn't a bad thing. I am a waif girl, and yes, we're thin and we're petite... but we're still hot. Just because we aren't 5'10" and over... doesn't mean we cant be models, or rock stars. Okay that is pure ranting... sorry. You know the feeling of going out onto your porch/fire escape, mid May, and smoking a joint. Exhaling into the Spring air... feeling the earth warming for summer, smelling the pollen and the trees. Ah... then the warm glow from the candles ... "Hey Cool, South Park's on..." Anyone else notice Liz's voice change? Maybe it's just me, but ever since Nick was born, she has been hitting different notes... her voice is deeper, stronger, more confident... OKAY did anyone else notice it, or am I crazy?? Actually, I am predicting major changes for Liz's career. Things are really going to take off, I believe. She'll finally catch on.... She'll be the next Fiona or Courtney (part of me prays this will never happen). But hey who knows, I also thought the same about PJ Harvey and she is still running in place.
